5/18/20 - 5/23/20 Upper Low Flooding & Severe Threat

Probably. We really need to get these clouds out.

12z HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR has us as ground zero for a bowing segment but it backed down from previous runs on instability.
13z and the 12z NAM just scrape us to the south.

Sun is trying to peek out here. I guess the question is if the sun is out, will the guns be out?

Assuming this is the storms that may become severe as they move east to north east.

DP is up quite a bit from this morning. Waiting on these storms and unfortunately, expecting many trees to fall due to the 8 oversaturated soil. Even a 40 mph gust would be enough to cause issues.

Got some nice looking action developing to my west. Let’s see if it can drop far enough south to my area. It is currently 78/68 with full sun.

Warning text said quarter-sized, but I don't have Pro 2 Radarscope to see exactly what's out there.

Flash Flood Watch issued for Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin.

Storm weakened on it's way in, but still got a little bit of pea-sized hail. Impressive considering I've seen one hail event in the past 5 years here, and we've had 2 in the past couple months.

Looks like all we needed was the sun to heat things up and give the spark for the storms.

Surprised GSP has not issued a flash flood watch like Blacksburg did.

Thunderstorm Watch until 8PM

Storms are moving pretty quickly, I guess enough so that they are not as concerned about flooding. I am much more concerned about numerous trees coming down this afternoon. Thankfully, I don't have any large trees in my yard.

Wow, good thing too. Just moved through here and big time rates! Don't have access to my station but I would guess 3-4 in/hr rates. If it were slower moving it would cause some serious problems. Some wind here but nothing major and no hail.
