I was just refuting a statement that was made with a statement of medical fact and terminology. Some people get their panties in a wad if they feel like their feelings were hurt even though it was just a statement and not directed at them personally.

Actually it appears some people have to make a comment or statement whenever somebody post something on here they disagree with; you can take your medical terminology and feel good about yourself if you'd like; I'll take exactly what I posted and know exactly what I said and look myself in the mirror every single day when I wake up if the good Lord blesses me with another day.

One thing I've noticed about the model (since I first started paying attention) is its trending later on peak resource usage. The nationwide peak is now Apr 16, but that's drifted later from a few days ago. NC is now showing a peak on Apr 27, but a few days ago was Apr 24. I assume other states are experiencing the same thing.

I guess you could argue it's a good thing because it gives us more time to prepare, but it also means it could take longer to get things back to normal.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it is garbage. Doing some thinking and calculating today. Yesterday it had Alabama peaking at 1134 deaths overall and peaking at 37 deaths a day on April 20th. Assuming a ten day lag in deaths and a fatality rate among known cases of 2% or 20/1000. By April 10 we should be logging confirmed rates of close to 2,000 a day to get to the 37 deaths a day.

The rates we have today are just beginning to show the results of “closing all nonessential businesses” with possibly more restrictions coming and the fact that BHM is shelter in place.

The model could end up correct, but I’m guessing it’s vastly overstated or completely garbage on peak times. Not to mention it is seemly based mostly on daily deaths for calculations.

Take that stuff to the Religious thread. Some of us here are not religious and don't care to see it in this thread.

I’m Catholic and believe in God, but quit proselytizing and take it to the religion thread.

This thread is not the time and place to spout your personal views on religion and abortion.

Thanks in advance,

Everyone.

THIS... this right here is why the gov't is stepping in and "taking away civil rights" according to some of you. I am glad he's going to jail.
Too many Christian's play the victim card too much.

While I agree that there are separate threads for reasons.. some people do not understand that religion informs all our decisions even about the virus.

Speaking of the elections, it's useful to look back at how the states decided to handle the November 1918 mid-term elections.

Nebraska is one example. It appears that they chose...poorly.

I’d like to see a way that we keep our Democratic Republic’s collective regulations as far as our elected officials are concerned, intact. So far as the elections go, this is a cornerstone of our Democratic process and it must not be violated. Coronavirus be damned. The elections must go on, one way or another.

My question is how has the official doomsday clock not moved or been talked about with this pandemic?

I think saying its garbage may be a step too far. It might simply be fine tuning its predictions as more data is gathered. I hesitate to argue too strongly for/against, until we see how this thing verifies.

I will say its currently predicting 93,765 deaths by 8/4/20, which is lower than the 100k-200k stated by the President and his advisors. Maybe they are basing estimates on another model, or assuming this one will trend upward. Or some of those deaths could occur after August? I dunno.

Well given how political this virus is with China and the Russia gas war and war breaking out with Egypt I would think it would at least be mentioned about moving the clock.

Listen to the words in the songs video I posted. One of the last lines is about making a better kind of germ.

Yeah I hope election officials are planning now on what to do if we have a 2nd wave of this in the fall around election time. If it’s a bad wave or similar to this one, having people across the country gathering to vote could be very risky/deadly. Not sure if they can come up with a better system, perhaps where people could vote electronically from home or something like that. Hopefully we don’t have a second wave or we have a better solution to deal with it if so.

I’m a full believer in the Almighty and am against abortion. But religion/abortion obviously does not belong in here.
People who have zero medical knowledge nor experience should NEVER be allowed to decide what can and cannot be practiced by a doctor or what a person can decide they want for their own body. IE politicians with a church in their wallet. Some women cannot safely bring a baby to full term.

Mostly old people vote so they will focus on absentee ballots more. Young people never turn out anyway and the majority of Americans don’t vote so I don’t think this is going to be a big issue other than the media hype.

Wrong thread.
