Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

The flu at least shows itself quickly. Would you be more worried about someone who breaks into your front door armed after you see them running to your house, or would you rather have someone sneak into your house, hide in your attic, then rob you or attempt to kill you as you sleep? It's the fact it's spreading quickly and undetected that gets people panicked.

You can have the flu up to 7 days before symptoms show. Per my children’s doctor 2 weeks ago.

Interesting very heated and tough questioning from typically Trump supporting GOP Senator Kennedy toward acting head of Dept. of Homeland Security:

So the Navy ordered it ships out to sea from all high risk zones for 14 days. So everyone on the ship should be under 60 years old. So what is the worry if it’s just another flu???‍♂️ Only older people get really sick right?
I would think the worry is with just more people spreading it quickly and overloading the health care system, and spreading it to people who can’t handle the virus very well. Those soldiers likely wouldn’t die or be hindered as badly as the people they come into contact with, and the people those people come into contact with, etc. the slower the spread the better.

It’s a new outbreak, the actions seem proactive and it should be. I’ve not seen anything that freaks me out.

Professor from Harvard says he expects 40 to 70 percent of americans will get this virus. Does that freak you out? I'm not saying end of the world freak out but end of the bull market. I'm a little concerned about all my elderly and unhealthy friends and family.

Are stores already having runs on water and other things? Please tell me this isn’t happening.

Yeah the water thing is weird, I mean is coronavirus going to make the sinks in my house stop? Really this is all crazy to me, either this thing is way way worse than the government's are letting on and we are all going to die or turn into zombies or this is a social media fueled panic over something that does not really deserve it.

Doesn’t freak me out at all. A market correction was due.

I imagine the best bet for these elderly and unhealthy folks would be for them to stay home if at all possible as well as constantly wash their hands/use Purell and for any visitors to wear masks. Also, they should wear masks when there are visitors or if they have to go to the doc, themselves. The visitors/care-givers can bring them food and meds or they can get meds through the mail thus allowing them to stay home. The caregivers need to be extra careful, themselves, to avoid infection by wearing masks around others and to constantly wash/use Purell.

Does that sound like a good plan if and when this virus ever becomes widespread? I’m asking because I’m taking care of a not so healthy and immuno-compromised (due to meds...he gets infections often) bro who is also physically disabled (due to lower back pain) and who also isn’t a spring chicken. He goes out only for doc/haircut appointments. He does have home healthcare visits for PT and nursing. Actually, I’d be worried they could spread it to him! I’d be tempted to cancel their visits.

Any advice? TIA

This will either go quite for a few weeks, with cases here and there. Or they will flood us with reports of new cases playing politics and creating mass panic. Hope that isnt the cases but I do fear that out come

I’m always one step ahead. Just waiting on my n95 masks now. Probably shipping from China FML

I would treat this the same way you would treat a flu outbreak. Be proactive and be cautious. I don’t think you should do anymore then you have planned. It’s a good plan.

I’m convinced the Gavin Newsom announcement earlier that 8400 people were being monitored for the virus in California was 100% political to send the market into free fall going into the weekend. Tomorrow will be just as bad. Question everything
