Latest HRRR keeps most of the metro as rain for the duration. Seems likely IMO. Think I should have just slept in today lol

Latest HRRR. Probably last time I will post one since its nowcast time. Dusting seems like a win for anybody today
I’m calculating this thing to be streaming overhead here just before 9:30am. 27/24..it just has that feel to it. Certainly doesn’t feel like a rainy setup. @ForsythSnow i’m Jealous man ?

It is nowcast time and that map is a lie. I'm just going to take that and place it in the nearest trash can.
I so disagree. I will have a dusting within the hour, maybe more.

Virga starting to move in now. This is where the 925 layer will dramatically cool, but we might get a degree or 2 added to the temp until the snow starts.

Eh, I should have been a bit more specific. I think the Mountains could get an inch or two, but anybody outside the mountains should be happy with a dusting.

Looking at that 44dbz band blossoming near Bham. That’s tracking right for metro ATL. But will it persist? If it does temps shouldn’t be an issue. ???

It’s just so hard to bet against the NAM. If it were showing rain then we would go ahead and slam the door on this thing..but it’s showing a decent little snow event so there’s reason for optimism. It’s just one of the things that makes this fun. Which model is right? ??♂ I’ll let you know in about 2.5 hours

Sun is rising here with clear blue skies ? ..if we were waiting on cold then the clouds would have rolled in at 50 degrees. Get a good low of 25 with precip to the west and not a cloud in sight to lock it in..??

After all of GAWX data last night about Atlanta and snow with SW winds, I can't say i'm surprised unfortunately.
It got down to 25 degrees here this morning. The temp is now 30, I should start to get some snow within the next hour or so.

Atlanta looks to be in the bullseye for the heaviest precip. Should be interesting one way or another. Hard to model that.
