Misc Fall - End of 2019 Whamby

I haven't seen a single post from anyone on this site canceling winter. There may be some sarcasm from time to time so hopefully people recognize that.

There are some very recent posts bringing up the possibility of winter cancel or some silliness of the sort in the Dec thread and a lot of that because it is not looking cold during the 2nd week in Dec. SMH about those things coming up now in the Dec thread. And I'll reiterate that even if the winter wee to average mild, which is and has always been quite possible, it wouldn't already be over or canceled, whatever that even means.

Did some folks have a bad turkey or something?

People cancelling winter in Dec be like thinking UNC, UK, and Duke going to NIT because of ONE early loss. Lol

I think most of us are just sick of digging out of the early heat hole that is December. It’s such a tough starting point. I can’t overstate that enough. But with that said, 100% chance I see frozen precip at my house at some point this winter. 100
Yeah, cad always provides at worst a sleet pellet or two. 100%

Here’s a timeline of how this winter will go:

*heat shows up on models for December (has already happened)
*fantasy storms still pop periodically beyond 300hr only to evaporate
*some hold on to hope “If we can just time one up with that southern stream active the way it is we could really have a nice storm!”
*JB throws in the towel
*mid winter a storm comes to fruition with the usual suspects cashing in. This numbs the pain for some while they’re back to well AN for sure the next several weeks
*MJO begins to look favorable but, again, we overlook a fly in the ointment and make another excuse for the heat
*warmth persists
*Dogwoods bloom 4 weeks early
*late Feb/ early March storm happens. Everyone gets more “Model” snow. Again, only the usual suspects see ground truth (no accumulation)
*theme of the winter will be: warmth with transient cool shots

On to 2021..

Every forecast I’ve seen is for above average snowfall this winter. Someone show me a forecast that shows something different. December 21st winter starts. I think the problem is we been spoiled by a early December snow storm the past 2yrs. And now that it looks like that may not happen. People are like oh well winters over. Winter starts December 21st folks! January and February is the months climatology favors good southeast snow.

My prediction for the Winter Whamby thread (Which is now combined with Fall)
Shane gets his way in regards to more snow.
Chris (@Storm5) gets more thunderstorms in Late Feb-Early Mar 2020.
We will have no Whamby thread for Winter, because you know... There is one!
El Nino will not be active, so this is my prediction... NO SNOW!!! ❄❄❄???

El Nino will not be active, so no snow for NC. But SC, i don't know if this is true.

I honestly just want days with temps like this, HI79/LO59 with dewpoints between 50-65, at least just 2 or 3 weeks of having those types of temps consistently

It’s been a really nice fall, no torch, nothing really cold, hasn’t been super dry to the point your sinus are on fire, reminds me of last fall..... oh crap.
