Pattern Anaphylactic August

Pretty disappointed in convective coverage this evening. Thought that upper level system in SC would have a little more oomph and set off a couple larger areas of storms that would move toward the N and NE. Hopefully the radar can fill in a bit this evening but nothing is that promising

When's the last time you had a thunderstorm?

Well I got a storm last week but it was the outer edge the core stayed SW, got a decent storm 2 weeks ago but only .25. The last time I really got a storm that was a big gully washer was probably april or last september

Don't get me wrong its rained here and I've had just below average monthly totals by piecing together what's fallen but it hasn't been anything big. It just gets frustrating to see storms on the radar then get the outflow then get totals between .05 and .1 then look at the models and see a good chance the next day only for the same thing to happen. It's once again getting dry here with grass starting to wither and yellow

Not directed to anyone in particular ... move to north Florida for July/August for your rain Jones ... o_O

I wouldn't get too comfy... we had 90s in October last year. summer is far from over

Sure but I’m sure you agree that a break here and there is worth it and even with 90’s in October we will still get low to mid 60’s at night which is tolerable.

Picked up 1.2" from yesterday into early this morning with multiple storms, and more today but likely not as much.

So, what happened to the storms today? I thought I had a better shot today than yesterday, but at least yesterday I had some thunder nearby.

Guess the storms missed me or died out last night. Maybe today will be a better chance.

.0000000000000001 killed it

You, Mack, and I have about a 5% chance of seeing more than 0.05" of rain today.

My 5% chance was too high, as I feared. It's just as easy to be right predicting no rain hear as it is to predict AN temps and BN snowfall for winter. We need a real mechanism with real forcing in order to get rain. Those have been few and far between. We may have a better shot over the next few days.

Friday and Saturday, the big wet cometh

RAH has a 30% chance of storms here for today and tomorrow. Really overcast this morning, so I don't see getting anything to spark the storms today. Of course the chance jumps to 70% for Friday and Saturday, and I'm going to another concert Friday night outside at Walnut Creek.

I think HS Football starts on Friday as well in Wake County. I wonder if they try to move it to Thursday.

Locked and loaded. Several strong storms making their way west to east across NC.3A086436-9F74-4B03-8D1F-E31A3830FFF5.png

Yeah just enough upper support to get those going and propagating along the eastward moving outflow. 18z 3k takes this line all the way to the beach, hrrr takes them about 5 more miles.

Avoid Statesville NC heavy damage in some areas. No power for most including Walmart.

Hmmm.... what could go wrong

Seriously though it'll be interesting to see what happens here if anything, the sea breeze is moving inland and that outflow is stout. May just get a collision of the 2 near the sink air anomaly

Guess what? No watch, either. And today was supposed to be quiet.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Chatham, Orange, and Durham Counties until 7:15 PM. 60 mph wind gusts, heavy rain, and frequent lightning are possible.

And now it looks like the northern end of the line is falling apart before it gets to me. All the action is to the south. Too funny.

Is is just me or have the storms around here been very isolated in nature the past few years?

Looks like we might have a weak mcv to the southwest count me in
