Observations Dec 8-10 Obs & Pictures Thread

36.5 rates have lightened so I don't hear any sleet atm. Waiting on a changeover to snow like this reminds me on January 2017

Though the wind has picked up over the past several hours out of the E and NE the change in temperature and dew point has been relatively negligible across North Georgia thus far.

To illustrate here's a list of stations across North Georgia and their respective readings at 7PM compared to the previous four hours.

Athens 39/37 E15 G24 (Four Hour Temp Change -1, Dew point Change -1)
Atlanta 41/37 E20 (Four Hour Temp Change 0, Dew point Change -2)
Blairsville 39/37 E7 (Four Hour Temp Change -1, Dew point Change 0)
Canton 39/36 E 12 G22 (Four Hour Temp Change -2, Dew Point Change -1)
Camp Merrill (Lumpkin County) 35/35 E5 G13 (Four Hour Temp Change 0, Dew point Change 0)
Chamblee 39/37 E13 G21 (Four Hour Temp Change -1, Dew Point Change -2)
Chattooga (Habersham County) 35/35 E7 G15 (Four Hour Temp Change -1, Dew point Change -2)
Gainesville 36/36 NE16 (Four Hour Temp Change -2, Dew point Change -2)
Lawrenceville 38/37 E14 G23 (Four Hour Temp Change -1, Dew point Change -1)
Tallulah (Rabun County) 33/32 E4 G13 (Four Hour Temp Change +2, Dew point Change +1)
West Atlanta (Charlie Brown Airport) 40/39 E17 G26 (Four Hour Temp Change -1 Dew point Change -2)

It will be interesting to see what happens overnight and how far the freezing line can work south and west.

41 degrees in Pittsboro (Triangle). Hoping the surface temp would get lower and wouldn't be totally reliant on wetbulbing to drop.

36.3 with sleet, a CLT poster not too far from me on the other board said something about wet snow mixing in. Also, the r/s line on the radar is ticking south.

Snowline is starting to drop south rapidly. It’s on both sides of me but not overtop

Sleeting like crazy near Franklin Co GA. Its like a sleet blizzard! Fascinating weather!

About an 1.5" here at 2500' south buncomb county.

Highlands is at 4100' and they are reporting ice, so there must be a warm pocket just above that in that area.

I have a dusting already. 6 hours ahead of schedule. FV3 is my new model of choice. Nailed it. I’m riding the line and I can smell the rain across the creek!
