Here we go, hot or not, rain or shine, I'm ready for fall. Post away.

JB said no summer in East in August

I predict we will have lightning on the overnight of August 31/morning of Sept 1. Met summer will go out with a bang, literally. Going down to the final buzzer this year

August Rush is a good movie.

Rush, rush
Hurry, hurry lover, come to me
Rush, rush
I want to see, I want to see you free with me
Rush, rush
I can feel it, I can feel you all through me
Rush, rush
Oh, what you do to me

We're starting off August just like July.

The good thing is the temps are down. If the rain stays hit and miss and very localized like last week, it's actually pretty nice out.

F4D3AE6B-1E60-4B0E-82E2-E1CF809434FF.png We have liftoff! First rain of big wet the squeakual!

2 MAJOR forecast busts in the last week or so. First, the big MDT issued over much of Tennessee and Kentucky a week ago... not even a sprinkle within 100 miles of here. And now, 1-2" of rain have been forecast over much of west tennessee for the lat 5-7 days. The verdict? Not a drop... literally. Must be some difficulty recognizing the pattern/atmosphere, but times like these make people say "Meteorology is the only profession that pays you to be wrong 95% of the time." I hate when I hear people say stuff like that.... it's obviously very ignorant. But, these two busts in my region have been pretty significant in a very short period of time.

Seems the sun is out in full force earlier today, some decent CAPE already, PWAT approaching 2"..... see no reason there will not be at least some scattered prolific rain makers again within the next few hours.

Nice summer day on tap here. Maybe some scattered storms this afternoon and evening. Probably hit and miss again. I can't recall the last time we had a real line of storms come through here. These storms are all the pop up variety.

The big what? Day 2

Picked up another .7 today....
.37 here. Just looking over the 12z models today nothing really suggests a prolonged period of dry weather. Rain chances and coverage should get cut back Saturday through Tuesday and I could see some completely dry days but things pick up again by mid to late week as the front approaches from the NW. I do think though we will certainly see temps start to rebound with more 88-92 days. I will be the happiest person around if we can make it to late August and not have any more significant hot dry weather.

Please allow me ... I will be the happiest person around if we can make it to late October and not have any US land-falling 'Canes. ;)

The big ~1.5" so far. Supposed to be up to 2 inches today and only half an inch so far today with heavier parts coming in just now.
I’ve gotten .43 total since yesterday!:(

And now a tornado warning SW of Athens.
