Pattern Magnificent March

That one bears watching for sure. GFS run shows an impressive system around 3/13

This may end up being rain for most but I wouldn’t say for everyone on this board. Western NC into TN and KY.

28 degrees this am ! Burnt a lot flowers that were in full bloom , thanks to Fab Feb

Larry,
It was 37º at the airport this AM when I left to walk; showed 35º IMBY. Vet's Park, though a long way south of me, misses you this time of year ... ;) ... Supposed to be 37º again tonight @ the airport; too high for a dip to the freeze level here miles west, but still ... I'm betting more frost ... :p
Enjoy your walks in S'vanna Town, and
My Best!
Phil

Models have been hinting at this period for a while, but still outside a week away. I expect it to go away more than expect it to actually happen at this time.

Thanks Phil. I just took a walk in the park in near perfect wx. It felt so good! It may not be Vet's park, but it still was quite enjoyable. Thank you -NAO! You're always welcome!

It was 29 IMBY this morning and 32 yesterday but I can't see any damage. The hydrangea is partially leafed out but seems fine. The only fruit blooming is blueberries and they are pretty hardy. Thankfully my apples haven't budded yet because they got fried last year.

Like I've said before, it's plausible for issues with blueberries to occur, but it occurs after they're finished blooming and are little berries. Then if you bottom into the mid 20s or lower, you're in trouble with them. Both times where it's bottomed into the mid 20s after they've finished, they were completely toast in our case. Thing is it's only happened twice since my dad has been growing blueberries and he just doesn't bother with any preventative measures if a freeze is going to occur which may make a difference.

(He also does peaches and mulberries, and while there was some damage in that big snap it wasn't they were completely toast, with peaches he has a different issue, a bug issue)

I think it's even lower if it's just blooming, maybe the upper teens.

I don't think light freezing weather really harms most plants to be honest, which is why I have affirmed that it's rare that everyone is finished with freezing weather early.

Sometimes, the damage takes a few days to show, but also, duration of the cold is more hurtful to plants. 4 hours at 32 or 28, will do pretty severe damage, but, if you dippped to 28 one hour before sunrise, not as damaging

Wow GfS pounds Virginia North next week. Could this storm trend a little south to get N.C. and Tennessee in play? Probably not but these upper level lows are tricky of course

Euro clown maps have a little north NC snow day seven or so. Does need to trend south and we know that is normally not likely. Fridays storm dis sort of hold it's ground in the mid long term so there is hope for now. CMC is totally suppressed.
