With the MJO trending wrong and no sign of any high latitude blocking showing up and a strong PV for the foreseeable future, I don't see how we get it cold enough south of I40.

With that said I'm officially hanging it up. With that said it doesn't mean I won't be wrong and it get cold and snow. It just means I'm done for the year chasing false patterns and fantasy storms. I won't spend another evening in a bad mood over weather patterns and lack of snow. Its happened too much then past month. If it snows it snows. If it doesn't it doesnt.

To borrow a word from someone who uses it too often ... "Bingo"! The thought you express makes life longer and easier ...

Absolutely! It's been absolutely miserable since Dec 2018. Not even a single storm to track. It's still almost unfathomable to think we go a whole winter with not even a threat. And if we do when December 2020 rolls around that's 2 whole years even for the climo favored I85 corridor. Pathetic!

People have asked how I can get so emotionally involved with something I can't control? Easy. I'm passionate about it the same way people are about football. People can't control that either unless they actually play for the team!

Man down!..... I guess the warmth finally got to him. May you rest in peace and have many dreams of snow.

Finally a sense of reason! Though snow putting one in a good mood is a good thing, the lack of snow shouldn’t cause bad moods. It isn’t like that is a serious matter and also it is not like there is any way to control Mother Nature. It is just weather. Whatever happens happens. Besides, snow in the south is only an occasional event. If one is going to be in a bad mood when it doesn’t snow, that person is going to have a hard time enjoying life in the south. Or maybe moving to Canada would be their best hope?

It depends. Getting that one storm or two every winter to track and cash in on is a passion of mine. You do have to keep your expectations in check though. I'm aware I'm never going to see a wall to wall cold winter with snow after snow. But going on 14 months with nothing has worn on me since I live in a very favorable area when it comes to snow outside the mountains. And a shutout is almost impossible. But it really looks like it may happen this year. I wouldn't want to live anywhere with feet upon feet of snow a year. I wouldn't want my love for it ruined. Give me my 3-6 inch storm every year here and I wouldn't trade this place for any!

If instead you told me going on 14 months, say, with chronic severe back pain or being homeless, I could understand those frustrations better. I hope you don’t have these problems or anything similar!

No thankfully I don't. I'm blessed with everything going right and being snowless is all I can complain about at the moment! Well I can complain about the Panthers too! But maybe they're on the right track now.

I've got winter tonight ...

Here too! And we both have a good shot at our coldest since last winter these next two nights!

KATL will be close as they were this morning. They had 24 in November.

Who can complain ... used to be in yonder years that a January walk before sunrise at 28º had become a thin long sleeve t-shirt affair, as the blood had thickened ... tomorrow AM gives me the excuse to take out a flannel sweat shirt (it's been waiting in the winter closet) ... it's all good ... thin blood and all this winter ... ;)
