Is that a saying? Sounds good. LOL. What is it?You know that old saying: “if there’s a ring around the moon, snow is coming soon.”

I could be wrong but I don’t think soEven elevations over 3,000' in SC havent had any snow ?
It was 60 the day before! I knew it was going to be ice, but there ended up being way more sleet than they thought, or it could have been way worse! I was living behind chili’s on Haywood road at that time and still lost power for 4 days! But being on the back porch and hearing popping branches and it smelling of pine all night! That was the one. Seems like it could have gone either way in that one? Mets thought maybe snow and then as we got closer it turned into a big ice storm. Me and a few friends stayed over at my buddies house that night.lost power for several days. He lived in Shellstone in FI. Tons of old oak trees in that subdivision and they were snapping limbs off the tops and when they’d hit the ground it would shake you. A big one broke off that night and hit the top of his chimney and we thought the house was coming down. It was a cold storm too! We layed in the den by that log fire all night. Good memories!
I'm sure there's not many reporting stations in that area.Even elevations over 3,000' in SC havent had any snow ?
Screw that.Call me crazy but I’d like to experience another big ice storm. I remember several from the early 2000’s but nothing since. Some great memories walking around at night while it sounded like a war zone around me. Nothing like it. I’d like to shut the grid down for a week minimum. Don’t @ me
I think it's generally true for any intent and purpose but I remember reading Ceaser's Head had a dusting or half inch in Dec. But that's so isolated it doesn't really count.Even elevations over 3,000' in SC havent had any snow ?
Same here brother. I thought last winter was bad. My second shutout in a row in the last 42 years. First time it has ever happened two years without zilch. Last year I got about 8 sleet pellets and I said next winter can't be any worse than last winter but in the back of my mind I kept thinking I have this awful feeling that I want even see at least 8 sleet pellets and hear we are on the doorstep of March with zero trace of any winter precipitation. Back in the mid 80s through the the late 90s we would get freezing rain storms all the time almost every winter if not 2-3 a winter in the nc southern foothills. I mean big ice storms. Tree branches snapping all day and night ice storms. Power out for days and a week at a time when I was growing up. I would see the icon on the weather channel local on the 8s back in the day say freezing rain and I would get disappointed because I wanted to see snow or a sleet storm but It was always cold enough back then for something frozen in those days and often even if you didn't see snow. Not these days. I'm sure it will cycle back but when 10-15-20 years down the road. Will we be alive then to see it. I don't know. I would give anything for some freezing rain today. It's got that bad around here and everywhere east of the apps in general in the carolinas and upstate lately. Just my 2 cents on what I have experienced in my life time regarding winter weather. I don't know what has changed. More population to cause global warming. I don't know. Something has changed. Are we just in a rut for a few years. I wouldn't think much of it but I've never been shutout in back to back winters out of 42 so that makes me pause and say what the hell is going on around here anymore every winter.I think this is officially the worst winter ever. I didn't see one snowflake, sleet pellet, or ZR glaze for the entire winter. I'm not sure if that's ever happened before. Even in bad winters, I've seen a few IP or snowflakes before changing to rain. Just awful.
Apparently they're not including Florida.
I don’t think we did last winter, either. At least IMBY. Two winters in a row…I think this is officially the worst winter ever. Well, this winter isn’t over yet so you never know. But it’s not looking good. Basically will need a Hail Mary in March or April at this point. But if we’re just trying to prevent a shutout, then it’s entirely within the realm of possibility we get at least a trace still.Same here brother. I thought last winter was bad. I would like to prevent a shutout and kick a field goal just to get on the board at this point and call it a game. Will see how it shakes out but like you said it's not looking good. You know it's about as bad as it can get when the panhandle of Florida has gotten snow and you haven't seen anything and are just about a hour away from Avery County NC who gets hammered all the time with snow but I can't buy a flake in this hole down the mountain in Rutherford County. Here's hoping for better days ahead in the winter weather department.Well, this winter isn’t over yet so you never know. But it’s not looking good. Yeah, it really sucks. I moved away to Florida in 2016, missed several amazing storms, then moved back in 2019 and every winter since has basically been garbage except for 2021-22. It’s like I brought the heat back with me!I would like to prevent a shutout and kick a field goal just to get on the board at this point and call it a game. Yeah, you missed some good storms in there 2016-18 down your way. That's crazy you seen more snow in Florida than NC in 2018 but I believe it these days. Wouldn't have years ago but today I do. Hopefully something happens like 93 or you have to bring up March 1960 because it did happen even though I'm not or ever expecting it happen each March but I always have it in the back of my mind. I always dream of those years happening again. Nothing not a flake those winters here either until the blizzard of 93. 16.5 inches of snow level ground and 2-4ft drifts everywhere at my house. Never seen anything like it in my life before or after the way the wind blowed 60 mph plus for 4-6 hours. Usually Forest City gets the shaft in most winter storms and gets the upstates weather but in the blizzard of 93 we got what the mountains got and that rarely ever happens around here. My grandparents said the three Wednesday snowstorms in March 1960 around here we're all big dogs a with foot each of snow each Wednesday and temperatures dropped near zero with a layer of ice on everything and there wasn't a flake of snow or sleet up till that point until the first week of March and then it was on after that. A lot of families nearly froze and starved to death at that time that I have talked to about March 1960 around here. A good friend of mine said he was 15 at the time and he and his family lived in Green Hill NC. Right up the road from where I live above Rutherfordton NC and he said they had already stopped cutting and gathering firewood for the winter because there hadn't been any winter up till that point and they had used little firewood that winter he said. He said it was spring like borderline summer weather up till the first Wednesday in March and they had already started planting there gardens for the spring it was so unusually warm that winter and they had no firewood ready and then the first storm hit and he said to they tried to go out and first find the firewood the snow was so deep and split what wood they did have cut and he said it was so frozen the axe just bounced off of it and then after each storm it was so deep he said you couldn't even find the wood to try and burn it. I would always mess around with him and say come on man it couldn't of been that bad in March 1960 just messing around with him and he said Jimmy we nearly froze to death and starved in March 1960 and you could just see the look in his eye and emotions those storms were no joke. Could you imagine if something like this happened today.Yeah, it really sucks. I saw more snow in January 2018 in Florida than I have the last two winters here!
