Misc This Means WAR

Talarico victory speech excellent! He’s talking about us unifying to replace the politics of division, loving thy neighbor as Jesus preached, etc. This is the opposite of MAGA typical message. He wasn’t just speaking to his supporters. He said he was also addressing those who didn’t vote for him and saying he will be there Senator, too. I wonder if he might become interested in running for Pres one day.

Then again, Fetterman is Machin's replacement, I guess it's possible that he is Sinema's.

Let’s see if the Dems blow this generational opportunity (history says they will) or if they do what they were voted in to do.. which is work for us

They can certainly work on both. There needs to be a reckoning for all the illegal things this administration has done so that it can't happen again while also doing things that benefit the country too.

Considering bipartisanship sedates voters and thus empties fundraising coffers and opportunities. I think the answer is obvious.

This situation is slightly different. What we have is an entirely new coalition of Democrats who at very minimum will be more independant minded than we're used to. I've been involved in this stuff for years, it's easy to see on the inside. Whether it will turn into actual quality of life improvements I hope so.

I'd caution against reading too much into the soft statements by the current Congressional minority leaders Jeffries and Shumer. Their traditional role (before MAGA anyway) was much more reserved in public with the committee chairs doing most of the hard nosed politics. I personally would not be shocked if Shumer isn't the majority leader next year. Chris Coons has had his name thrown around and there's not exactly pushback from what I've seen/heard.

Something else to look for legislatively is action on "prediction markets" aka degenerate gambling by another name. I don't know if we'll get all the way to a national ban on sports gambling, but Kalshi/Polymarket/etc are on borrowed time.
