Misc This Means WAR

Example no. 300 that air strikes alone aren't a deterrent or enough to end a weapons program. Assuming that article is in the ballpark of accurate.

Fair but I don't think we know yet. Iran admitted it was badly damaged though after declaring victory for days... The CIA is now saying it set them back years.

The NATO chief praised Trump's actions today so I think that assessment above is probably not right but who knows. I mean I think we need to wait and see

I'm sure there is a point to be made about airstrikes alone aren't enough but like I also said Trump didn't want us getting into another endless war and he was trying to make a statement

As long as they still have the fissile material and institutional knowledge the risk remains. The “hard” part of enriching uranium is already done by public accounts from IAEA. Centrifuges for that type of thing are small and don’t cost much per unit to continue plugging away.

Iran hedged themselves a bit post stuxnet and are probably positioned well to retain the institutional knowledge. Diplomacy is the only way forward realistically.

If our border is as sealed as they say, we shouldn't have to be aggressive like this, but maybe we have an interest in Venezuelan oil.
Law enforcement activities versus military deployment. Why are we using military assets to bomb drug smugglers, alleged drug smugglers mind you!?

Those drugs were headed for your backyard and would've resulted in some deaths easily. What we've supposedly been doing in the "war against drugs" hasn't been working. So FAFO

Awfully slippery slope. I mean of we can kill foreign drug traffickers without any due process what's to stop yall from going Duerte style here and call for the execution of US born traffickers without due process?

Optempo of Southern Command has been very high since around May. These moves have been telegraphed. I don't have a magic 8 ball, but you don't run your equipment and people this hard for this long without intent to use it. Initiating armed conflict in our hemisphere is a terrible idea and nothing good will come of it.

This is somewhat complex. Usually (read: always in the before times) when the Navy is working with the Coast Guard on drug interdiction campaigns they fly the Coast Guard flag. This is because these actions are policing in nature. What the Navy has apparently done is declare anyone they suspect as being part of drug smuggling operations as an enemy combatant. That causes a whole host of issues when it comes to maritime law and use of military force. This doesn't even begin to get into legality of these operations without an AUMF in place.

Pardon the pun; these are uncharted waters for the American government and military.

Yeah looks like I was wrong. Let’s see how NATO responds to this.
If Article 5 means anything, its being put to test tonight as Russia has hit Poland with Drones and another wave in

Polish PM, says 19 drones flew into Poland, mostly from Belarus ( might as well be Russia). 1st one came in at 11:30pm their time, last one at 6:30 am. Poland Formally activates Article 4 of NATO Charter. Believe they had located wreckage from 3 drones so far. One hit a house.
Prayfully & Hopefully the whole mess ends. But you dealing with warped in the head/head of state (Vlad) , so good luck with that one.
