Misc This Means WAR

Example no. 300 that air strikes alone aren't a deterrent or enough to end a weapons program. Assuming that article is in the ballpark of accurate.

Fair but I don't think we know yet. Iran admitted it was badly damaged though after declaring victory for days... The CIA is now saying it set them back years.

The NATO chief praised Trump's actions today so I think that assessment above is probably not right but who knows. I mean I think we need to wait and see

I'm sure there is a point to be made about airstrikes alone aren't enough but like I also said Trump didn't want us getting into another endless war and he was trying to make a statement

As long as they still have the fissile material and institutional knowledge the risk remains. The ā€œhardā€ part of enriching uranium is already done by public accounts from IAEA. Centrifuges for that type of thing are small and don’t cost much per unit to continue plugging away.

Iran hedged themselves a bit post stuxnet and are probably positioned well to retain the institutional knowledge. Diplomacy is the only way forward realistically.

If our border is as sealed as they say, we shouldn't have to be aggressive like this, but maybe we have an interest in Venezuelan oil.
Law enforcement activities versus military deployment. Why are we using military assets to bomb drug smugglers, alleged drug smugglers mind you!?

Those drugs were headed for your backyard and would've resulted in some deaths easily. What we've supposedly been doing in the "war against drugs" hasn't been working. So FAFO

Awfully slippery slope. I mean of we can kill foreign drug traffickers without any due process what's to stop yall from going Duerte style here and call for the execution of US born traffickers without due process?

Optempo of Southern Command has been very high since around May. These moves have been telegraphed. I don't have a magic 8 ball, but you don't run your equipment and people this hard for this long without intent to use it. Initiating armed conflict in our hemisphere is a terrible idea and nothing good will come of it.

This is somewhat complex. Usually (read: always in the before times) when the Navy is working with the Coast Guard on drug interdiction campaigns they fly the Coast Guard flag. This is because these actions are policing in nature. What the Navy has apparently done is declare anyone they suspect as being part of drug smuggling operations as an enemy combatant. That causes a whole host of issues when it comes to maritime law and use of military force. This doesn't even begin to get into legality of these operations without an AUMF in place.

Pardon the pun; these are uncharted waters for the American government and military.

Yeah looks like I was wrong. Let’s see how NATO responds to this.
If Article 5 means anything, its being put to test tonight as Russia has hit Poland with Drones and another wave in

Polish PM, says 19 drones flew into Poland, mostly from Belarus ( might as well be Russia). 1st one came in at 11:30pm their time, last one at 6:30 am. Poland Formally activates Article 4 of NATO Charter. Believe they had located wreckage from 3 drones so far. One hit a house.
Prayfully & Hopefully the whole mess ends. But you dealing with warped in the head/head of state (Vlad) , so good luck with that one.

May not be political related, but food stamps for people will end if the government shutdown isn't resolved by next Monday for millions of people.

The carrier strike group is there for show and then will go help Jamaica once Melissa clears out.

Maybe we should do more to help the addicted to reduce the demand
So it's the fault of those addicted? How'd they become addicted in the first place? Pushers are called pushers because that's what they do, maybe we help those addicted by wiping out the supply. Again our so called war on drugs has been a sham, done nothing to curb the problem, so time to try another route

Doctors over prescribing are a big factor as well as big pharma

I agree 100% with your comments. There are so many people who started their path to heroin addiction because they were prescribed opiate pain medications and they got hooked on those and their doctors stopped their prescription. I have been very careful to avoid pain medications for this very reason whenever I have an aliment or injury. If the pain I am suffering isn't manageable with over the counter medications, I'll tell my doctor to prescribe something that is as weak and non addictive as possible for my pain management.

Just don’t do drugs. Not hard if you have self control. If not you get what you deserve.
Worked with a guy who almost lost a finger at work. They reattached it and even did the leeches trick. Took him a long time ti recover and he got hooked on the pills. Lost his family house and everything. He was as normal as you until he wasn't. It's easy to judge

I don’t judge but I am an adult with self control and people count on me. That’s all the motivation I need to not be dumb. People like blame others for their weakness.

I had multiple surgeries after I got out of the military and I was one of those that got hooked like thousands and thousands of other vets. I was very close to ending my life before someone got me into psychedelic therapy in Mexico. Ibogaine and 5 Meo DMT saved my life that week and it saved 5 others with me at that retreat. We are being poisoned at every single level of our lives and we have plant medicines on this earth that can not only save lives it can cure addiction and mental disease. The F'd up thing is that the people who call these medicines drugs and make them illegal are the same ones pushing the poison pills

Please don't see this as a weakness. Some of the baddest warriors on this planet have taken their life because of addiction. The reason why is we all chose to self medicate to solve our PTSD because we saw seeking professional help as "weakness". I get it when you see people who don't have self control throw their life away but we don't know their story and need to show empathy to anyone going through this no matter how difficult it can be.

My hope is that RFK will get psychedelic therapy mainstream, legal and available to everyone not just rich people

Probably explains why Trindad and Tobago's military is on high alert

Like a NFL team against a JV team. Easy stuff for our Men in uniform.

Underestimating one's enemy has always gone well.

Those in and around the military have seen this coming since the inauguration. First week of February tempo went high and has stayed high. This is largely following the aborted plans to attack Venezuela from the old man's first term that Mattis talked him out of. I'm still not sure what the point of it all is. Blow up things and kill people for what exactly? Maduro may suck but he's already told this administration and the last one that US super-majors are welcome back and they won't be messed with.
