Misc Sports Thread

If we had a qb, we would be on our way. 2 batted passes, a 20 yd sack and fortunately he got ruff the passer penalty on his interception. Run game and defense is good enough.

Yeah pretty sad they were in position to win against the Patriots and Colts and blew that opportunity. The talent is there but they don't know how to close games.
 
Agree. I was at the game today too. Bryce is a great kid, but he ain’t it. Gonna need to start planning on getting a qb again. Problem is so much was paid to get him, so much put in to help him, and it’s not enough. Tough hole for the panthers.

The good news- early returns on Dan Morgan's teambuilding are excellent. I'm excited to see what he does with a few more full drafts. Little things like getting a fourth rounder for Thielen... *chef's kiss*. I like Canales a lot. There are mistakes, but that's to be expected with a second-year head coach tinkering with a rebuilding franchise. Generally, I think he's the man.

The bad news. Evaluating Bryce is still a murky endeavor. The stats are putrid. The physical limitations are brutal. He has shown he can overcome those limitations and be brilliant, particularly in end-of-game situations. But the reason we're in so many tight end-of-game situations is that we can't put teams away in the first 3 quarters. I want to have faith but you can only afford these projects so much time. I would imagine we continue to build and start Bryce next year without picking up his 5th year option, and look towards drafting a QB in 2027.

That Falcons pass rush gave the Colts fits yesterday. The run defense not so much, when a team gives up over 300 yards on the ground to another team they are almost certain to lose.

I’m impressed with the secondary of the panthers, but we don’t really have a pass rush, and our receivers are pretty meh imo. I think we could have used theilen this year and wish he wasn’t traded. Needed that veteran leadership, and great hands, this year for these young receivers. He’s better than any of our receivers right now honestly. I’d say the jury is still out on the team building overall.

I agree the stats on Bryce tells the story unfortunately. And to think that the team building was based on helping Bryce to succeed, what does that say about the team building or of Bryce when his stats are so bad?

I think Bryce Young could be an above average quarterback in the NFL with the right pieces in place. The Panthers need improvement on the offensive line, a legitimate pass catching tight end and another receiver like the rookie McMillan who looks promising.
 
Clemson and USC should just end their football programs now. With NIL and the portal, they are finished. In 10 years if you are not Ohio State and 3-4 other teams you may as well get rid of football and be done with it. Georgia and Bama's days are numbered too. The SEC will belong to Texas and Texas A&M.

So why are Bama and Georgia's days numbered but Ohio State's days aren't numbered ? Is there something special about Ohio State ?

I'm not Shetley, but I can say that Georgia and Bama's NIL is good, not GREAT from what I've heard, and the best NIL teams are OSU and the Texas teams...including Texas Tech.

And SC certainly is not. I can see the day when ALL college football is done here, even USC and Clemson. There is simply no way for them to keep up. When this shakes out, 2 or 3 of the Texas schools, Ohio State, Oregon, and maybe Southern Cal will be the only ones left with any national title chances. Everyone else may as well shut their football programs down.
 
1-9 BC and 17 point dog is up 28-17 over #16 GT late in 3rd qtr. GT no pressure on QB.
