Severe Severe Threat March 15-16 2026

No school cancels for Greenwood sc. school even stated it’s on normal schedule. Maybe that’s a good thing. My daughter will at least be safe inside school.
 
After looking at the model consensus, it appears the potentially severe line will have moved through downtown ATL just before rush hour (perhaps ~6AM). Does that look right?

Yes, that is what it seems man--- Hopeful the storms will weaken a lot when it approaches ATL.

Hopefully so! KFFC doesn’t seem overly worried about ATL getting severe when looking at their forecast. Usually “possibly severe” is put in when there’s a threat:

TONIGHT
MOSTLY CLOUDY. SHOWERS WITH A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS
AFTER MIDNIGHT. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE AFTER MIDNIGHT.
LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. SOUTH WINDS 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO
30 MPH. CHANCE OF RAIN 90 PERCENT.
MONDAY
CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MORNING,

I decided to not alert the ATL folks I was thinking of alerting because of two reasons:

1. FFC not overly worried, likely because the leading line is coming in during very early morning hours, which that late at night usually results in a pretty significant reduction in the severity. I didn’t want to cause unnecessary worry.

2. The heavy thunderstorms should be finished before rush hour. Otherwise I would have told them to delay going into work.

also, How LCL is very high and the cape is also weak for the ATL. briefly spin up possible but the man issue wuk
 
I got all the way down to 57 degrees in South Forsyth County East of Alpharetta. Now creeping back up. Certainly doesn’t feel like severe weather is coming lol
