Getting a bit more concerned for the Raleigh area with the sun starting to come out here this morning, especially if we get any renegades

It's been rainy and cloudy here all morning. A few rumbles of thunder and lightning. Haven't seen any sun yet. Hopefully it will stay cloudy and prevent the fuel needed to spark severe storms.

Quit being obtuse. They made the call to delay and cancel schools because of the high risk of severe weather. Of course they have no idea if and where it would happen. But do you want kids on buses if there is a tornado coming?
Back in my day I used to have to run out to the bus in hail, wind, rain, etc.

Not sure what to think. Started off with a cool breeze and DP had dropped down to 58 from a high of 64 overnight. However now we have breaks in the clouds and the winds are picking back up and Dp has rocketed up to 64 again. If there just wasn't so much crapvection out front!

Yeah, leaving shortly so should be there before noon, driving a typical work van, but not the sprinter types that have a bit higher profile.

Sorry if this was a bit of banter, but not often you can ask a Met or some very knowledgeable weather people specifics like that. Hope everyone is safe and enjoys whatever hits! (safely haha)
I'm not a meteorologist and there are many posters here who are really knowledgeable when it comes to weather, more so than me. I wish you a safe trip!

Looks like theres a ripple of energy moving through the trough which may be aiding in the increase in convective activity in the last hour. Dont think it's 100% impossible on the cells along and east of US1 tries to rotate this morning but it's a bumpy crowded mess. HRRR still advects some decent CAPE into the area around 19/20z so we will see but it's hard to not think the ceiling on this has been lowered quite a bit
