Presidential Election 2024

Screwed up situation. You got atheists telling everybody how they're not Christian enough. And you have people believing everything you hear, forgetting that this is a political world with political hit jobs happening on a daily occurrence . I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it's following the same road as everything that's been happening against Trump. I'm a firm believer he would have already been in jail if this supposedly happened, 4 years ago. Pretty telling that it happens to the same type of person each and every time as well. It's always somebody that goes against the machine. Btw, I don't even like the guy. But my feelings do not matter.
Exactly, the more I dug up looking into Gaetz as a pick, the more I realized he's been politicially persecuted as much as Trump has in some aspects, which is why Trump picked him. After seeing some of the brutal takedowns Gaetz has drunk hearings against Mayorkas, Gerrit and the FBI supervisor during the Hunter Biden Laptop investigation. Gaetz gets results. The DC Cesspool are terrified of him.

I don't know why we have to continually go through this. Of course, America was not founded and proclaimed as a Christian nation where Christianity was set as the national religion and Christians only were allowed. Literally, nobody here is making that claim.

But our laws were clearly derived from a Judeo-Christian framework, and the general morality of the day reflected that.

Also, and once again, I don't know why it has to be continually pointed out, someone claiming to be a Christian espousing some extreme or weird view doesn't nullify Christianity or the general Christian point of view in any way. To think otherwise and to use examples like that to make a broader point about Christians is absurd.

It'd clear that in order for Gaetz to be confirmed the House Ethic Committee report has to be made public...several top ranking GOP senators have called for just that. If there is testimony of illegal behavior then I can't see how Gaetz get confirmed. Maybe let him go under oath amd refute the testimony under penalty of perjury....but based on all the stuff being said by his own party members these allegations are true and that would be foolish of Gaetz to do.

I don't see a path forward for him. Who knows maybe the moderates fall in line. But I suspect there's still bad blood over the McCarthy spectacle.

Election over and Tim Scott heads back to the swamp and puts a MAGA and Trump hater in charge of funding senate candidates.

BREAKING: Newly-elected NRSC Chair Tim Scott is hiring Stephen DeMaura, a huge Trump hater & Mike Pence's 2024 campaign manager, to be the Senatorial Committee's Executive Director. DeMaura will have massive control over which Senate candidates to fund.Scott promised to help President Trump fulfill his promises, and only a day after getting voted to lead the GOP Senate's bank account, he's hiring a never-Trumper who will only help Neocon establishment candidates win.WHAT IS GOING ON?
@SenatorTimScott
. This is the most disgusting 180° in the history of 180°s. Why pick a backstabber to direct Senate funding?

When the Nation was founded, 85% of it's citizens were Christian of some denomination. So, it was understood that Christianity would be common and the protections were against one single denomination ruling the others, like the English Anglican church. Nobody tolerated Islam and we fought the Barbary pirates very early on. We were definitely founded as a "Christian" nation and thank God for it! We never would have survived this long with out Christians - whether you are one, support one or even just tolerate them, you owe them a huge "thank you".
You won't like my answer but I'm gonna say it anyways as a former Christian turned Gnostic. Go read that book again. It's a document versed in war, revenge, and judgement (See Yahweh Old Testament). I can't tell you how many times before an operation that we thanked God for our might and ability to kill our enemies. It was only when I took that step away did I see it. I believe in a creator but if that creator is some old bearded man in the sky who's word is what I read in the old testament I will be sorely disappointed. For some reason I don't think our creator chooses any "thing" over another. Not a country, not an army, not a certain religion. We are on the brink of a nuclear war right now because of religion. I don't think "thank you" is the phrase I would use right now

Christians do a lot of good, they really do but they need to come to an understanding that they are the newest religion on the block by a long shot, the bible is mostly stories from much older ancient text and the majority of it has been grossly misunderstood because the church chose to make it that way on purpose. If you want the truth look at the ancient Gnostic text. Look at the text that were left out of biblical canon purposely. There is a good reason why the catholic church brutally slaughtered millions of Gnostics in the name of God of all things. I respect everyones right to worship as you please but we really need to get away from the idea that we are Christian nation because we are far from it. This is a nation where you are freely allowed to worship as you please even as a Christian which I would rather you be than an atheist who thinks they came from a mud puddle

Jumping off my soapbox......

Gaetz knows a lot of nasty dirt about a lot of nasty people in the swamp. He has that FAFO attitude and he isn't afraid to use it and that can work in Trump's favor in many ways with what he wants to do cleaning up the cesspool

Had this very same conversation with my co-worker regarding the access Hollywood audio. He's very close with his pastor and family. His pastors college aged daughters refer to him as "uncle" they are so close.

I asked what if a guy grabbed one of these girls by the Meanie butt and he said they take a butt whooping. I asked him what if they said it was okay because the guy who did it had a tax plan they liked. Then I asked him if it was trump would he still vote for him and he said yeah.

Then I asked if he thought trump was going to be his new pastor with all his behavior would he be okay with it and he said NO.

So of course my next question was if trump isn't fit to run a church why is he fit to run the country.

The conversation with him is what led to my comment yesterday of what good is a religion when you can just apply it however you want.
There are many pastors unfit to run a country and many presidents unfit to be a pastor. I’m not sure what your point is, but we are voting on a president, not a chaplain.

If it means that much to you, nominate a nun then.

I am surprised that a professed atheist has such a criteria for a president that he has to be fit to run a church. Quite a qualifier for an atheist don’t you think?

You might be missing my point. It's the self righteousness of the right that is being questioned. They are literally fighting to have god entered into government at every turn and yet most have strayed so far from their religion. That was the point of my other post about a compass always pointing north.

At least the first term we had people who acted as guardrails and kept the government from falling into complete chaos ,wars ,ECT. Buckle up it's going to be a wild ride. Get the popcorn ready a never ending reality show.

If only the rabid anti-Bush ppl twenty years ago knew just how bad things would get, well half of them are probably in Trump's fandom so nvm
