Might be less to do with Trump himself but more of what he's creating. The same can be said about the Democrats really. Trump's diehard base in some cases are very authoritarian and want you to follow their ways or you're "Not American". Think about it. It's no better than what the left is doing to some people. They lure unsuspecting people in under the guise that you're being patriotic when you're really just a follower of a cult. As I said, this isn't limited to just Trump's base. You can say people on the left are diehard for socialism and extreme ends of it as well. Personally I advocate for neither socialism nor authoritarianism, and worry about both paths if people keep embracing extremes. Sure some here are fine with divisiveness, but that's the petty disagreement form. We can live with that. It's stuff that starts major conflicts like what we are seeing today that we need to cut out. An authoritarian state would send the military on them and kill anyone who resists and pushes for a change from the system. A socialist nation would be hard to explain. You have one end where the government would become too strong and be authoritarian as well, or it would be so weak the people completely crush it and the US restarts its government under a totally different deal. Both would be terrifying, but choosing to reject extremes as a whole nation in general would avert either solution. Kind of a rant but I feel like people need to cut their hypocrisy and stop acting like one party is the chosen one. Washington founded this country and left office telling that parties would ruin his vision for the nation and sure enough they've been the reason for a lot of issues in our nation through history.
