NO WAY! YOU DON'T SAY!?!
Then why in my city and so many others, police are shooting and tear gassing protestors who aren't breaking laws?
Just because you protest doesn't give you the right to go anywhere in the city that you choose. In most cities you have to get A license to protest. And even when you protest you have rules you have to abide by and to be civilized.

So what side are you on. The side that wants to abolish police? Or the side that wants law and order so we all feel safe?

Are you a child?
If police cannot control themselves or will not submit to needed reforms, abolishment in favor of a new system of law enforcement is on the table.
I don't want people to feel safe, I want them to actually be safe, from each other and from abuses of the state.

That's true, to an extent. But then why in my city and so many others, police are shooting and tear gassing protestors who aren't breaking laws?

Go check out Chicago.... police reform is needed but it’s not the biggest issue. That’s just one city that’s trash.

Idk. I'm not there. Could it be that the protesters are operating in areas that are not deemed appropriate for protests? If they are not following the rules for protesters they are breaking the law especially when they don't listen to law enforcement to move.

Its not an either or scenario.

I want law and order but that law and order needs to apply to the police the same as it does anyone else.

I researched the numbers and you are correct. Obama got between 40-45% of the white vote both elections. I guess that's because we're only half racist and not because of his socialist bs policies
If you want to keep your doctor you can...... pass the bill then you can read it......

I didn’t vote for Obama either time. Not because of his skin color. But because I only vote straight republican.

Not all law enforcement abuses there power. They just don’t it’s only a few bad ones that give all police a bad reputation. And your caught up in it.

Well, the good ones need to speak up and do something about the bad ones. When some of these officers keep doing bad things over and over yet keep staying on the job, there is a serious issue.

Excuse me? There absolutely is not a curfew in Huntsville and the only violence was by police.
Stop lying.
From Al.com

"Although Huntsville doesn’t have a curfew like some other cities, McMurray said after the protesters refused multiple commands to leave the area they were “in violation of a lawful order” and blocking a roadway."
[/QUOTE]
Correct.

The reason it is against the law to block roadways is because you cannot Block emergency vehicles in emergency situations, block commerce, block everyone else's freedom to drive to taco bell, or the gym, and even the hospital. I'm sure heart attacks and strokes didnt stop just bc of the protests.

Exactly. The other poster lied, there is and was no curfew. And there was no violence by protestors, but that didn't stop them from being shot at and gassed. And if you think that is an appropriate response, I don't know what to tell you.
Editing to add, please don't like posts that are just obviously lies. It reflects poorly on you.

relax and please don't tell me what I can like or not like. Thanks Karen

If we’re able to avoid a recession, and it’s looking like we might, that would be nothing short of incredible. Miraculous really. And would be enough to get DJT 2nd term imo.

I don’t think there’s really any way we will avoid a recession. GDP already fell in the Q1, and it seems almost assured to show negative growth in Q2, as well. So that’s two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, which is the definition of a recession. We could see explosive growth in Q3 and Q4, but it would be a recession the first half of this year all the same (albeit a short, sharp recession in that case).

Obviously, regardless, if the economy is booming by November that will help Trump’s re-election chances, though. I’m not sure I’d bet money on it, though.

No way Trump goes back unless the economy gets back to pre virus levels and that is not happening. It's Biden's to lose at this point.

Hopefully enough moderates realize a country that's losing its soul to the likes of DJT is no good regardless of the economy.

Trump is definitely at a low point (re-election odds) at the moment (some factors outside his control but also he hasn’t exactly been handling things well). I would not count him out though. Campaign Trump is a a whole different person and he knows how to rally his base like no one else. In 2016 everyone counted him out after the locker room talk recordings came out. Pretty sure an ABC poll had him down by 12 points. A lot can change and we are still 5 months away from the election. Biden is prone to saying someone he shouldn’t and the debates will be on full display. Right now I would have it as a 75% Biden favorite, but who knows what will happen in the months ahead. One big change though from 2016 though is I think Hillary was STRONGLY disliked as much as Trump was liked. I don’t think Biden is seen in nearly as negative of a light as Hillary was. Although it could also be said that Biden doesn’t exactly inspire people to vote for him. I believe the current state of the country can make up for that though.

Trumps discourse has soured on many moderates and yeah it gets his base high fiving each other but his base isnt big enough alone to win it for him.

Hillary was a disgusting candidate and she was rejected. Biden was VP to a very popular president. Big differneces.

Jessy, I've got to point out, you earlier stated it was wrong to approach an office. How then was it just fine for armed protestors several weeks ago to storm up to police and scream in their faces? Why didn't the police execute them on the spot?

relax and please don't tell me what I can like or not like. Thanks Karen
Lol okay buddy. Trying to help you out.

Thanks but I’m good.

I was told the same thing 4 years ago about Trump pushing away moderates. I’ll believe it when I see it. Biden is a “safe” candidate but is proving that his age is catching up to him. Like I said if the election was today Trump would lose and probably convincingly. It’s in 5 months and when Trump hits the campaign running that is when he is at his best as far as gaining supporters.

It won’t matter who wins in November. No one’s life has gotten worse under Trump and no one’s life will get better under Biden. Checks and balances remain. That’s why it blows my mind that people get so bogged down in their own political posturing. It literally doesn’t matter. Just live your life. If it makes you feel better to stand up for racial injustice, do it. If it makes you feel better to stand for your second amendment rights, do it. If it makes you feel better to stand for big government or small government, by all means do it. Just don’t pretend like the world is coming to an end every single day. It loses its punch over time.

The Debates will decide the election. Personally I feel Biden would crush our economy. Especially if they start passing green new deals and unnecessary spending like that

With a democratic president comes increased regulation, so the market retreats and responds accordingly. Should balance back out overtime though

You cannot overturn an amendment even with a full dem control. Two thirds of all states must call for a constitutional convention, and in attendance, 3/4ths must agree to ratify it. It will not happen anytime soon.

If I am reading this right you would not need a full Constitutional Convention to get it done. A full convention would have incredible power if one was ever called. You are correct that 3/4 of the state would need to ratify it though.
