Ostrich December

We will need a full written report on how negative teens windchills feel. Thanks
Will do, and you know I’ll be out in it! According to locals, this is “nothing” ?

Love getting onset ice then getting warm sectored, my types of setups ?
But in all seriousness any trend to less amplification and further south/slightly faster and we have issues D3D11154-28FF-48DD-9493-C478BACCE00A.jpeg

Continental-scale wave placement is pretty close to ideal in general, only thing you could really ask for is a flatter/weaker southern plains wave s.t. the CAD doesn't fully erode before the event ends but overall it's a good look for ice prior to New Years esp in climo favored areas of the blue ridge & western piedmont of NC into SW Virginia. Give us about another 1.5-2 days so of this synoptic looking holding on the models & I think we'd be ready to pull the trigger on a thread for this event

If we do get a flatter/more suppressed wave, the oof meter goes up, because that CAD/SE Canada vortex looks legit

Still more than enough time for this to trend favorably, models have only recently started to catch onto the deeper Atlantic Canada vortex (as usual) but the longwave pattern has always been there for something imo the waves just looked very damped in the operationals and ensemble means. It's the kind of setup that can certainly garner both ice & then severe if the southern plains wave is slow/amped.

CMC brings some backside snow showers on New Years Day.

Table setter for the next wave, or the next one after it... or is it the 3rd wave???
Hey at least you’ll get onset ice, your place is basically mars when it comes to radiational cooling, lmfao
