Yeah but there's a lot of mountains north of him that causes downdrafts ect

There was a station with over 100", but I threw it out as an outlier. It is not at all inconceivable to have stations with multiple inch differences when you're in a humid subtropical climate with pop up thunderstorms as your primary rain source for 5 months of the year. Then add in all the tropical systems we had in the early fall with the tight gradients. The majority of the rain came from last winter though.
There were also many times in July where I missed the rain when there was a ton of it around. Some stations further away probably had July totals closer to 6 or 7 inches.

Check this out for 2020...
RDU finished -0.1°F for December with a T of snow. In other words, a normal December, though quite a bit colder than I expected.
