RGEM sorta robs Central SC this time. Hopefully the temps aren't that much of a actual issue.

Yes sir! 2-3 inch swath along the I-85 corridor per RGEM and the band doesn't break up on the HRRR as well.

Wow!! Incredible!! I'm still amazed at how we can have such a thin light to moderate line of snow that can cross the apps and still produce like this for us. Training over the same area for hours?BOOM!
HRRR and RGEM just probably made my wife question why she married me!

Been taking a big wait-and-see approach, and while overperformance in one place does not guarantee said result in another locale, I’ve been impressed with the upstream results last night and this morning.
This is going to be fascinating to watch for the Atlanta area later today/tonight. It won’t take much to make the roads a mess given the temperature crash.

I’m beginning to get concerned about wind chills. Channel 2 showed a map with a wind chill of -7 in Atlanta by morning

Shows plenty of moisture, in fact 0.30. Just keeps us all rain for a lot of the time which I have serious doubts it does.

Durn SREF still says just over 40% chance of snow here, and I already have what it said for mean totals and it just started, lol. Shooting for that 1.64 boom and might make it

It's going to be worse with snow on the ground. I think negative wind chills are possible up here.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office: All secondary roads in Madison County are becoming icy/treacherous. Stay off the roads if possible, or use extreme caution.
Increased to light snow in Huntsville, but returns out to our SW don't look so great.

Even a little rain to start would be bad as it would wash off any brine treatment on the roads.
Impressive trends with hrrr over last few runs. First image valid 5pm est, second is 9pm.
Looking at Mobile radar there looks to be a good amount of moisture coming in out of the Gulf across MS heading to the NNE.

Radar trends back west will make you nervous. 3 frames of good trends, 3 frames of bad.....back and forth! Wish the line would fill in and stay!

This isnt wishcasting all the short range models have sucked. The precip in West Mississippi that's setting up was nkt there in the short range models

Could be wrong and if what is going on to our west is any indication of what might happen....then our system is going to over perform what is being modeled.

Also, a quick word from NWS Huntsville:
Based on latest radar and observations, think the models have underdone the strength of the front. Quite a strong temperature gradient from NW AL where it is snowing (mid-20s) to western TN behind the back edge of the snow (5-6 degrees). We are also seeing some localized banding which is likely due to some frontogenetic forcing. Was initially concerned looking back to our SW over central MS with radars showing snow breaking up and hinting at the idea models were showing yesterday with a possible hole in snowfall over northern AL. But that area has filled back in and think that even the latest model guidance is under-doing the precip a bit. Could see totals a little higher than forecast in the bands. If anyone has any snow totals please pass them along

If that frikking snow hole verifies I will go postal. Really getting tired of seeing that thing. Makes denial and wish casting much harder!
