Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

[QUOTE="SD, post: 88900, member: ]I think we are good for longer than that and we will probably see at least flurries/light snow through midnight

I just hit hour 10 and have 7+. Still snowing and hasn't stopped,.
So do the math and that will give you guys an idea. Average .75 /hour. Been pretty consistent. Had some 1 inch per hour mixed with .5 per hour.

I'm assuming the back edge of the precip field has advanced further east than Chatham Co. since the snow has stopped, got 6 1/2 inches total. Very excited to have seen the first pure snowfall we have had since.....too long ago.

Well, if its still snowing in Randolph then that has to advance past Chatham. Its been about 20 minutes since the snow has stopped.

You and me hit the right lotto numbers on this one. I've been in some whoppers , but this one has been a 10 on the enjoyable scale. Even shut the hwy down 74/220.
I agree it's snowing hardest the past hour as it has all day and that's saying something.

Yep. I just went out an measured 7.5"! Still snowing. I think we can get another half to 1 inch.

About 2”. That’s going to be about it unless rates pick up. It’s snowing lightly now. Maybe that will at least maintain what we have until temps drop.
If you look at the terminal radar from clt you can see a lot of light stuff from 85 to the mountains. Granted it's not going to be massive but there is probably a lot of snow left

What’s your temp?

Just went out as it's finally stopped for now. Measured 7 1/2" Been a great all day snowfall with no mixing issues here once the snow started to fall. Looks like Randolph, where my dad lives, has closer to 8". Anyone have an idea how long and strong the last band will be when it comes through?

32.6 but my weather station is a glacier not sure if it's bring insulated

Down to 28 and moderate snow.... I'm greedy, I want just one brief heavy band.

Getting a little back-filling on radar now. Rates def picking back up.
