The cell just west of Goldsboro that had a tornado warning is severe warned now but velocities once again would argue tornado

Tornado watch cancelled for Wake. Had rain and two rumbles of thunder here. The trend of having duds here when under any kind of watch or more than a slight risk of severe storms continues.
 
As having survived an EF 1 tornado last year, that missed my house by about 50-75 yards to the N and W, which blew all 50-100' foot pines down away from the house, I'm good with duds
 
Having an EF0/1 come out of nowhere and tear up a neighborhood and 100% demolish a shopping center directly across the street from a T-Ball game as kids (including one of mine to be selfish about it) were scrambling just to get out of the thunder (no sign of a 'Nado) - is enough for 1 lifetime ...
Really good with duds when it comes to severe!

Got some heavy rain, a few rumbles of thunder, and some light wind earlier. The 23 and especially the 22z HRRR continues to show some heavy activity moving in later.
 
Yeah, don't want destruction or death, just saying it's crazy how the last 5 years it seems whenever we have a watch or an elevated or higher risk for severe storms here we usually end up getting nothing. Just don't recall it being like that before. Seems the parameters that used to give us good storms don't pan out like they used to. Same thing with winter storms.
 
The NWS in Wilmington has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in extreme northern Robeson county, a few miles south of Hope Mills and Jack Britt, around 330pm Tuesday afternoon. The tornado's max width was approximately 30 yards, and it traveled for 2 miles and winds reached 75-80 mph. Here are a few pictures of the damage I observed along Sandy Grove Road, only a few miles from my place. The thing that really struck me that this wasn't straight line wind damage that caused this was the randomness of the damage and how scattered about pieces of sheet metal, siding etc. were, and what truly convinced me that this damage was caused by a tornado was how siding on the opposite side of the homes and buildings where the wind was supposed to be blowing was ripped off. Unfortunately for the residents in the area, this tornado went unwarned and largely unnoticed until it was too late. This is the same storm which eventually went on to produce a tornado near Autryville, NC in eastern Cumberland and Sampson Counties about an hour later the same day. Certainly a bit unfortunate to live near the edge of both the Wilmington and Clayton radar sites, hence rotation in the lowest few thousand feet of the atmosphere will often go undetected. It's definitely a little unnerving to know a tornado passed this close to your house without any warning whatsoever.

The HRRRRRRRRRRR didn't lie this time, got some heavy rains, even decent winds (elementary school where my wife teaches in RR is without power this morning) last night. I was approaching 2" totals just prior to sacking out last night and forgot to check this morning but am certain added at least another .5" overnight.
