Uhi tracks seems to suggest some potential for spin upsWonder if there will be another watch further east later.
The entire line seems warned and there's a Tor warning in VirginiaAnything severe to the west yet or is it too early?
I just said that like 3 posts ago and I am a met student at NC state but I do know who you’re talking about he’s my friendNot sure if he posts here, but there's a met student at NC State that has a page on Facebook called the NC Weather Authority, and he said there should be two lines, with the worse coming through my area around 2:00.
So, we had a legit tornado threat earlier in the week without a watch, and today we have a watch and we might not see a real tornado threat. If that happens folks aren't going to take these watches seriously. Not saying that's right, but it's human nature. Not sure if the tornado threat will be as high later once this initial band gets throug. Models are as enthusiastic about backing the ll wind field and things get a little more unidirectional so hail/wind threat seems to be the main concern especially as you go south through nc
A severe tstorm watch this morning would have been fine but given the potential for a few qlcs spin ups or a weak supercell structure the tornado watch made sense to raise awareness to the potential especially since the line was moving through some pretty urban corridors at morning rush. So, we had a legit tornado threat earlier in the week without a watch, and today we have a watch and we might not see a real tornado threat. If that happens folks aren't going to take these watches seriously. Not saying that's right, but it's human nature.
I wouldn't call this the only severe threat just depends on how we recover this morning into the early afternoonWell, now saying this line will be the only severe threat according to the NC Weather Authority on Facebook.
8:50AM: Once this mainline moves through the severe weather threat will be much lower through the day, this line came in earlier and faster not allowing for our atmosphere to be as unstable. This afternoon and evening, it appears just more scattered showers and storms from west to east. A lower risk of severe weather once this line moves through.
It expired at 2pm like it was scheduled to do. Makes sense to get some observational data on the back end rather than extending the original watchAfter they dropped the watch?
Or we could just skip all that and go straight to complaining and passive aggressive criticizing. It expired at 2pm like it was scheduled to do. Makes sense to get some observational data on the back end rather than extending the original watch
