Lorenzo is coming but it looks like it will stay well out to sea

Satellite imagery indicates that a broad area of low pressure has
formed in association with a strong tropical wave over the far
eastern Atlantic. The associated thunderstorm activity continues
to show signs of organization, and a tropical depression or
tropical storm is expected to form later today or tonight while
the system moves generally westward over the eastern tropical
Atlantic at 15 to 20 mph. Interests in the Cabo Verde Islands should
monitor the progress of this disturbance. Regardless of development,
this system is likely to bring locally heavy rainfall and gusty
winds to portions of the southern Cabo Verde Islands during the
next day or two.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...90 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

Not saying this means much but the Euro has much less trough interaction with the low
Edit: Euro officially breaks the trough, however at 35N

The Icon looks very ominous if I'm reading this correctly, breaks the trough

I'd need the other 500 mb map on the ICON but my guess without playing the map in tropicaltidbits would be both go OTS.

This one may hit CAT 5 briefly. Anyone think this would be a good first storm for me to chase if I go to the Azoros islands? Possible direct landfall as a major.

Per NHC, Lorenzo is one of the largest and strongest hurricanes on record for the central Atlantic. They said they will determine ranking once it’s done strengthening and expanding.

Very impressive looking hurricane.

Recon is actually going to investigate this some for research purposes. That'll be fun to look at.
