Tropical Major Hurricane Lorenzo

This one may hit CAT 5 briefly. Anyone think this would be a good first storm for me to chase if I go to the Azoros islands? Possible direct landfall as a major.

Per NHC, Lorenzo is one of the largest and strongest hurricanes on record for the central Atlantic. They said they will determine ranking once it’s done strengthening and expanding.

Very impressive looking hurricane.

Recon is actually going to investigate this some for research purposes. That'll be fun to look at.

Everyone on Twitter is saying this is the storm that will finally change the pattern over the east coast

From earlier. Very impressive look. Seems to either be weakening or going thru ERC atm

Lorenzo has a chance to be the best hurricane ever (at least of recent years lol). If he can manage to steer away from significantly affecting the Azores and then does bust up the pattern as thought=$$$$.

First he's a picturesque hurricane in the middle of nowhere, then he might bring us fall. We may have to bring a big THANK YOU to a fish storm in a little over a week.

We have another factor that is coming into play, and that's a recurving typhoon. Sure it'll be 3 weeks before we see the impacts from it, but at least it'll help beat the ridge down if it tries to build in mid to late October.

This is certainly NOT something that should happen in 2019:

One of the research planes had to aid in search and rescue for a boat that sank in Lorenzo's outer bands.

How is this storm going to impact weather patterns?

I also posted a blog article of his where he explains in the whamby thread.

There's still some uncertainty though at least for our purposes I think. Someone smarter will have to explain but from what I've seen, in runs that Lorenzo breaks off from the trough instead of staying hooked up and strong, you don't see as much relief.

Um crazy
