Tropical Major Hurricane Irma (Part 2)

What's a reversed wind line?
Basically a normal wind storm but backwards. You know when you see a storm coming in and you have a thin gradient between green and red? It's basically that, but from Orange to nothing or light green. Meanwhile, here comes the wind.

Lol I thought the rain was over, I'm mistaken, but the wind IS over so this is the loudest the rain has been all day, even though I think we did have moderate rain at least for most of the day.

If the Hurricane would've spent more time over Gulf it would be a whole different story today couldn't been worse ever in Region IMO without the weakening and slow down that occured

This was bad, the reason this wasn't worse is because there was a high pressure set up in the north, it kept the severe threat down for a lot of people, if that high pressure is not there...? This becomes an awful severe setup.

And that's not even talking about if Irma doesn't make landfall on Cuba...

In Georgia, given what the actual landfall was, no..other than rainfall where the extend of dry air ingestion cut rainfall by about 50%. IMO IF she had skirted the coast until near big bend area, we easily would have seen sustained near Cat 1 sustained here. in N/East Central GA

count your lucky stars ... ;)

For those who experienced Opal, how would this compare ?
I was working Public Safety that night just south of ATL. and I was much worse IMO.. Higher gusts with true feeder bands and "lulls" in between. Plus it was an overnight situation that was "under forecast" by both NWS Products at the time, and by broadcast mets.

For those who experienced Opal, how would this compare ?

It didn't even come close here in Alabama. The winds were way higher and stronger. Opal rocked us here where I live. We were without power for a week or more after Opal. Widespread power outages and trees down everywhere.

Tbh. There was a period of about 15 or 30 mins around 3 pm this afternoon that winds were really getting cranked up. After that, it died down and we haven't really had any strong winds. I think it's pretty much over with here too.
