Oh, that's great, Phil! Can you deliver? I'm using my van battery to run my laptop and modem, lol. Oh, and many thanks for taking the tar out of this one. It was a fuzzy bunny by the time it got here. I've been without power for hours, but oddly the cable is till working so I have inner web by using my vehicle battery. Cold air in place took away all the spinners..shoot I've just been reading and enjoying the sound of the wind and the rain out on the glass porch. Not a bad day considering how extreme it could have been. Tony
 
This is what a consistent strong onshore flow at just the right angle does. This happened in Pinellas beaches during the storm of the century and we got surge flooding from the intracoastal which was completely unexpected. Notice how every incoming tide never fully emptied. Then when they had the strongest onshore flow today coincide with the mid day high tide there was already an extra 2 feet of water in Charleston Harbor. Just boring facts that fascinate me lol.....

went out to check around; a few trees down here and there but Southern Forsyth isn't bad. On a side note my folks in Lakeland, FL got their power back a bit ago; it looks like a war zone down there; can't imagine what other places look like..
 
NW upstate has lots of trees down over the counties. Been pretty rough here last couple hours. Winds gusting over 40 at times. Rain has been steady but not too heavy.
 
Just thought I would jump in and post that I fortunately still have power. It did flicker several times this afternoon and it went out for about 2 seconds around 5pm before it came back on. Reading back through this thread from last night, I had doubts about the tropical storm force winds coming to fruition when I woke up this morning, but around 12pm until now things quickly went downhill. The worst of the winds here was between 1-5pm.

I also heard power outages statewide in GA is roughly around 1.6 million.
 
lost power 2 hours ago and pretty sure it won't be back on tonight! still got strong gusts of winds with light rain in Lawrenceville. y'all be safe!
 
These are the areas of Athens that are currently worst hit with power outages. Luckily I live on the west side, which is still relatively unscathed (map from Georgia Power as of the 5:34pm update). 31,000 customers are reported without power in Athens.
