Tropical Major Hurricane Irma (Part 2)

Still have power and it seems I'm one of the lucky ones. The local EMC is reporting 18,000+ without power just in my county. A total of 33,500 are without power in the entire service area (primarily central and west-central Georgia). No major damage to report, just plenty of limbs and branches to clean up once everything clears out. Gusts of 50 mph+ have occurred over the past several hours, but it looks like the worst of it should clear our area in the next 90 minutes or so.

The analysis and comments have truly been helpful as Irma made her way across the Atlantic. Thanks to the mods, mets, and everyone who contributes valuable information year-round to help us prepare for events like this.

I don't know how i still have power here (cae) i can hear trees snapping like a icestorm and temp has gone up a good bit

Heard a loud pop outside which may of been a transformer. Heard the same type sound during the ice storm here a few years back. Somehow the power is still on.

1st post! Here in Loganville Ga power is flickering off and on. Heaviest winds are happening now here. My cheap wind gauge just got destroyed. Highly gust was 57mph. Sound like many counties around here are getting hit pretty good. You guys are great btw. Everything stay safe!!!

Cleveland TN here. Reading all these post from people in GA. Waiting on those wind gust to cross into my area. Seems like the best time for any damaging gusts here or power outages is from 6PM-4AM.
