Asheville as really going to be hit hard by this on the current track. Days of soaking rain, extreme flash flooding and now about to take the central remnants of Helene. Could be massive amounts of downed trees and even worse flooding.
I believe they are up to 7 flash flood emergencies ongoing in the NC Mountains, very bad situation there.

FLEEING AN AREA SUBJECT TO FLOODING OR UNDER AN EVACUATION ORDER.

HEAVY RAIN IS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASING THE RISK OF LANDSLIDES,
ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WHERE SLIDES HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST. SLIDES
CAN DESTROY SINGLE HOMES AND OTHER STRUCTURES AND LARGE SECTIONS OF
ROADS. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNED AREA, YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL, EXCEPT
TO MOVE AWAY FROM FLASH FLOOD OR LANDSLIDE DANGERS. IF YOU ARE IN
THE VICINITY OF A STREAM NEAR THE HEAVY RAINFALL, ESPECIALLY ON A
MOUNTAINSIDE, OR AT THE BASE OF A MOUNTAIN OR IN A COVE, MOVE
IMMEDIATELY TO A SAFER LOCATION.

TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD
DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.

BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND DO NOT DRIVE ON FLOODED ROADS.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED
ROADS. FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.

Regarding the backside of Helene. Macon just gusted to 59 mph.

I think the highest winds for my area and surrounding areas will occur in the next few hours out of the west perhaps under clear skies.
Yep. Here in Macon that last band was the only windy part. A couple of power flashes during that

55mph gust just now os the most I've experienced here. Sounds like a dam train that won't end
There was a moment before the eye that it was sounding like that and all I can think is I'm grateful it didn't get worse or as bad as you all in the Upstate/augusta. Extreme weather is fun and all but I've had my fill of storm damage before and just don't want to deal with it or days without power. Give me snowstorms all day..anyday.
