I might have a half inch now south of Raliegh near Lake Wheeler. The snowfall for the last thirty minutes has been light but steady. Bring on one of those death bands!

Triad absolutely cleaned up from the ULL. And to think last night some of the short range models
Had parts of Triad barely getting any snow. Guess they were missing the dry slot location by about 75 miles.
Man this radar to my southeast is loading up...headed NW

Charlotte airport has reported 0.47 liquid thus far. Maybe 9-10 inches of snow??

word to the wise very tough to officially measure liqud in windy snow due to so much of it blowing outside the contraption they collect things in. could be a little more liquid technically

Event has picked up here in a big way. It's like the mauler was focused on the west and didn't realize about the dry slot around here earlier until it got an urgent email by his boss's boss to say "we need some action here ASAP". Its trying to make up for lost time as of 6pm..
Sidenote, the 15.5'' report in Thomasville is insane to me as I resided there briefly. Would easily surpass 12'' in Feb 2004. I'm halfway wondering if it was an amateur measurement skewed by blowing snow/drifts.
Not sure the measurement outside, and at the moment I don't care cause it looks beautiful.

I’m confused. Kinda dumping again for the last 10 min. Nothing on radar.
I have been awake since 3:30am, it started snowing at maybe 4:30am, it is still snowing now and looks Banner Elk outside, i may never sleep again
That coastal low is exploding now! If some that could work its way far enough northwest, we might be in business,
Wind is really howling out there now. Snow is blowing all over the place and I think new snow continues to fall
Was going to try and get SLR measurement myself but it appears to just be sublimating in the measuring cup lol

Yes I hope we do. We shall see. I wanted as least 3-4” and was hoping for 5-6”.

gotta switch to viewing TCLT radar (airport). beam height from GSP radar is ~6000-7000' in south charlotte vs ~1000' from the airport radar
One of the mets can correct me if I’m wrong, but what’s probably happening is the flakes are forming below the radar beams because the DGZ is so low right now

I am just down the road in Parkton and it finally started coming down good in the last couple of hours.
delayed but not denied. raleigh will cruise to 5 after much handwringing

Love seeing roads covered with snow. ️

Still snowing hour 17, last 12 @ 1 inch per hour. We are over 12 inch mark by the way. Still snowing half inch hour rate. Thought she would have threw in white towel by now. All I can say is what a memorable storm. Mid teens, ratios through the roof. Wind, low visibility all day. Loved it! I was in 93 blizzard up in mtns. The white out vibe look today, didnt touch that, 50mph plus gust. But it certainly reminded me of it.

Had a lull but looks like several different little bands may be trying to merge over east central NC. Probably closing in on a foot if not already there.
