Wintry Machine Learning Mauler 1/30-2/1

Here in Acworth, look one way down my street, and it’s snowing lightly but at a steady clip. Look the other direction, barely flurrying. We had a light dusting here earlier, but the skies have been clearing so it’s evaporating.

Robert sent me this pic. He’s happy for the snow… lol

What an all time perfect snowhole over RDU proper...hasn't budged all day. At least when we bust we bust with flare.

Congrats to everyone getting snow...hoping to see multiple reports of 10"+ in the Carolina's.

Lol! The writing was on the wall Thursday. I could see it coming.
I’m pumped for all the other posters that are getting slammed right now. Been on the boards with a lot of these fine folks for a long time and happy for them. I know the hours we put into it! Keep the pics coming!!

The HRRR is showing the heavier-hitting mesoconvective band trending bit by bit eastward towards Athens (over the past 3 runs). The downside is it's also showing a little less QPF from prior runs.

That Lake Lanier enhanced band almost all the way to Macon

Radar indicates Eatonton to Milledgeville along 441 may overperform with that band and that that could later get to Dublin. Overall, models appear to be a little NE of there with this band. Downstream implications possible as it moves SE to SE GA? If so, I’m hopeful but perhaps this may also or instead bring areas further SW of the model consensus like Midway to Darien more into this.

It's taken forever for it to pick up here but it's finally doing so. moderate..bordering on heavy snow.. currently. I'm right under the center of the trough/wind convergence. Wind is very light but one moment the wind is east, then northwest, then north, then back east. Pretty cool to see it shift around from one moment to the next.
