Wintry King Kong Winter Storm Potential Feb 13th-16th

Early frames of the 12z HRRR looking really good for DFW.

Already 4-6" of snow would have fallen by 04z Monday, and it's still snowing.

Final 12z HRRR totals are a widespread 5-8" in DFW per the Kuchera method.

EDIT: Emphasis on widespread BTW. Even down to Austin and San Antonio, it shows 4-6".

Glad to see our friends to the west of the Apps are going to get an honest to goodness snow, maybe a few over the next week! Congrats, we are pulling for you to get BURIED in snow next week!
thanks michael, local met memphis just updated his snow map swath of 6 to 10 inches along i 40 corridor north

12z nam continues its warmer idea for most of Alabama . This is the nam at 54 and 60 . Will be interesting to see if it continues to hold this idea of shooting the low northeast through eastern Alabama into northern Georgia

Looks like the 12 NAM is coming in with lesser snow totals for the Memphis area. Sleet looks to have increased. Need that colder air at all levels.

Road conditions should improve late this morning into the afternoon and we anticipate a break in the freezing rain for much of the afternoon and evening. Sunday’s round of freezing rain and sleet is looking a little more intense over Northwest Alabama. It’s possible icing will begin over in the Shoals tomorrow evening and continue all the way through Monday night. Eventually the freezing rain shifts east throughout the day on Monday. It continues to be difficult to determine how much will fall as freezing rain versus sleet from the Huntsville Metro area to areas west of I-65. Residents should prepare now for a significant winter storm followed by temperatures dropping into the lower 20s overnight Monday into Tuesday. Temperatures might not get above freezing until late Wednesday morning. While areas of Northeast Alabama may not experience a prolonged freezing rain event you will likely encounter hazardous travel beginning late Monday once the temperatures drop into the 20s. The forecast guidance continues to under forecast how cold this air mass is. Keep checking back for updates there will likely be more adjustments needed over the next 48 hours. If we see mostly freezing rain instead of sleet expect power outages Monday afternoon and evening. The power could be out for more than 24 hours. Never use a generator indoors and always be aware of carbon monoxide. Be careful with space heaters as well.

Wow!! 12z Nam has a foot of whatever frozen that falls for Jackson MS. ?
