I've heard the winter snows there suck though, compared to places like Boone, Blowing Rock.. even though it's at a slightly higher elevation.Spending as much of the summer in Highlands, NC as I can...with COVID -19 allowing remote work, I’ve been able to skip out of most of the heat...58 this morning at the house but it did touch 80 today (first time this year) briefly before a nice T-storm cooled it to the mid 60’s...it’s a heat wave here too...just different ?.
HI still in the 90s at 10pm. Nothing exciting about that at all.

Well since everyone is counting down to winter and days are getting shorter ! I am doing opposite , I am counting the days till it’s next summer and the days get longer again! First week of December sunsets start getting later ! Every day passed puts us one day closer to next summer!
Dang those lows!
Easy to see where the haves and have nots have been the last week or so. The southwestern & central piedmont of NC are the places to be, some spots have seen 4-5" of rain.

Today could be goodPer the hrrrrrrrrrrr, updrafts today look more intense/stronger vs yesterday with larger amounts of lightning and even some surface hail popping up on some storms today probably given the steepening mid level lapse rates
