Pattern July Fry

It’s interesting Union isn’t under a flood watch. Probably a quirk of you being on the border of CWAs. RAH just did a blanket watch for all counties. Meanwhile GSP decided to just leave SC out completely for now.

Also, apparently you live in SC. 🤷‍♂️

GSP knows where we are - there is no flood watch for Union county, NC - will be lucky to see any rain or very little. RAH knows where we are too, not an anomaly - but reality.

Subsidence and mid level dry air is killing us. That HP is stronger than modeling has reflected.

You're probably right on if it will verify or not. I have no idea to be honest. But I think you being the only NC county not under a flood watch in GSPs CWA is an anomaly. Just my opinion though..

I know where Union Co, NC is and how to pronounce the county seat btw. (MON-roe ;))

We've had perpetually dry air in the mid levels since like March 2021. Last summer was a bit of a reprieve but it's quite bizarre. Unless we get something tropical the continental fronts just aren't doing it anymore.

still hard to hate the upcoming look IMBY, seems like it might be a little on the hot side the farther west you go.

Am I missing something? Flood watch in north GA but haven’t seen rain and the forecast seems to be decreasing. Maybe I’m missing something 🤔

Not missing anything. Our local NWS office in Wilmington has anywhere from 1"-6" totals lol. With the way things have gone I'd be happy with an inch so maybe I'd have green grass to cut. Haven't mowed since 7/3.

Got home from the office this afternoon and see 1" in the bucket - better than nothing - and it does not feel like a frying pan outside, just a warm sauna.

KRDU set a minimum high temperature record today. The previous minimum high for this date was 76 degrees back in 1921. It is much more comfortable setting a minimum high temperature record in July than a maximum high temperature, that's for certain.

Yes - your air conditioner and power bill would agree ;)

0.02" today. Wet the road at least.

I need about .2" to get to 11" year to date and the official reporting station in Myrtle Beach needs .41" to get there.

Jimmy, that stings! Only Bertha can save you! 🌵

I just cannot believe what is happening here. Wave after wave of heavy rain since about 3:45. I don't have a rain gauge now, but we are probably getting close to 2 inches of rain.
I guess the GFS was not right...imagine that

For kcuf sake - we finally hit the jackpot yesterday and last night 4.51" and now flood warnings are posted in Monroe. 1.25" was in the bucket at 8pm last night - so 3.26" fell overnight - didn't hear a thing - must have been tired. My creek is out of the bank for the first time in 2 years. This should knock some of the heat out of ground - it feels so different outside.

@JHS - was checking out Jonesville - you did good too - I would guess 3" + you had several back to back runs.

I drove through that 7.39 section of the Monroe bypass - and almost everyone was pulled over - you could not see 50' in front of you.
