Big wet has long passed .. a tropical system would cause more problems for people than blessings for others .. abnormally dry is pesky for sure but nothing a couple pop up thunderstorms over the course of a week can’t fix or help .. some people East are running above average in rainfall by several inches . A tropical system would certainly cause havoc for many areas

We’ve already been tropical systemed to death here with a total of 8-12” in the wettest spots from 3 different systems including the latest Invest.

GSP topped out at 93 yesterday; already 91/69 (HI 96) at noon. Not gonna be pretty out there today! CAE at 90, but dp is 76 for an HI of 101 already. ?

Unpopular opinion it's likely not as wet as some think it is other than the far eastern part of the state. Most of us are normal with some areas west of rdu below wrt to soil moisture. We could likely handle a typical tropical system that is in and out since absorption would take place up stream. Now if we have a wet week next week and we start to tip the scale toward above normal soil moisture in the central and western part of the state that would be problematic later in the month of August if we had a tropical system.

Had about 2.5 inches of rain in the last 2 days and there is no standing water so there's room for more

The 30 year average for rainfall by July 29th is 29.15", PGV is currently sitting at 42.55" and the southern half of the county is probably 8-10"+ ahead of that.....so right now the surplus at PGV is 13". Hell the annual average is 53.44", if we just get the average totals in Aug and Sept we will exceed the yearly average by Oct 1, and that is without any kind of tropical systems...still most of the rain has been over or south of the Tar River basin so the river has room for now, the Neuse not so much.

Plenty of room over here. 50% of normal Precip over the last 90 days. I've had cracks in the ground all summer.

Yup if this weekend into next week are fairly low on totals I wouldn't be shocked to see D0 pushed east almost to US1 and D1 added up your way. It's been pitiful over the last 7-14 in that area

Oh don't worry I've spent plenty of hot days like this doing manual labor. Shoveling, roofing, landscaping, working out. Trust me I much prefer it to pouring 40-degree rain.

I enjoy both , I much prefer heat though. If it’s freezing though I go for a swim to invigorate myself . 34 degrees and sleet is great swimming weather for the brave !

Worst has to be working a concrete pour , my bud does that and those pour sites are like 130 degrees .

Yes I know there’s room for you western NC folks I’m just talking about the majority of the south East that are running clearly above normal on precip .. a tropical system unfortunately won’t just effect only your backyard .. all I was saying is a tropical system would cause more problems then benefits to the majority of the SE … I pray your cracks get gullywashed like everyone else’s has .. like Shane said next week will be crucial for y’all and a quick tropical system would probably do us fine at this point in time with the amount of water soil could hold at this point
