Pattern July Fries

We've been getting a very heavy thunderstorm here for the last 1/2 hour or so. Street flooding a near certainty. Easily 1+ so far. Per my memory, this is at least the 2nd heaviest storm of the month here so far.

Update: We ended up with at least 1.5", which would at least tie it for the heaviest of the month so far, and it occurred within about an hour. I'll check my gauge later. I got confirmation that streets were a mess.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I think tomorrow has a good chance of being a let down around here. The setup as a whole should favor a band of storms moving nw to se across the state. But I am very worried that subsidence behind a wave over SC along with a lot of debris clouds in the morning may cutback on instability

Sorry about tomorrow, but you're looking pretty good going down the road ...

Kinda wish I was in Central TX right now. Sure temps are 100+ but those dewpoints in the 40s sounds very refreshing. I would much rather have a temp of 100 with dp near 50 than temps in the 80s and dp in the 70s.

The pattern for the next 2 weeks certainly favors decent rain chances here. I'd like to pile up as much as possible. I have my thoughts that our old heat ridge friend makes an appearance in August

Plus you wouldn't have to deal with lightning literally EVERY time you get ready to go for a swim. I'm getting sick of it lightning every time I go to the pool... EVERY time

Probably so, and if it does, have some questions on tropics ...

Unreal, we’re getting a second very heavy thunderstorm here just a few hours after one that put down 1.5-2”! Street flooding is liable to be really bad with this one when considering the leftover puddles from the prior one.

I have a client in Monroe, NC(SE of Charlotte) who has not had any rainfall(aside from some sprinkles) since June 28. I was there today and the landscape looked quite bleak with wilted foliage and burnt grass.

As usual this summer, getting a good rain tonight. Hearing we might get some drier air in mid week. We need it! These dewpoints of 75 are horrid!

glad I left that state many many years ago... and no, Southeast Ridgey... 40 degree dewpoints don't make that ---- bearable, lol

Widespread severe weather possible on Saturday across portions of Alabama and Georgia. Thinking a legitimate tornado risk exists along with damaging winds and large hail.

According to the HRRRx, SD and RC , score good storms starting around 8 PM! Good luck!

At least he will be able to breathe since the dp will be tolerable.
Dew points at 40 with a temp of 100 vs a dew point at 70 with a temp of 90 only feels one degree higher with heat index, so truly there isn't much of a difference there. I think it feels hotter if you're in the open with a high humidity, but hotter with a higher temp if you're in a city or near lots of pavement. No matter what either is unbearable but I personally find high heat to be worse than humidity since there is always a high chance of clouds and showers around either to cool you off or to block the sun if the storms get strong enough.

Ive seen circumstances where low level moisture and cloud cover limit thunderstorm development here in central nc. Lets hope this isnt one of those times.

Been mostly cloudy all morning in the metropolis of Simpsonville

We haven't had many of those this year.

I'll give it a nope

I had a little boomer last night. Just one clap of thunder and some heavy rain for about 30 minutes. I remember when I was a kid it seemed like we got at least one good storm a week during summer.

Got 1.75 from a highly warned storm last night. The pup and kitty were freaked out big time, yet other recent, much more vociferous storms haven't gotten much of a rise out of them. Must be to do with pressure, or something about the lightening in particular storms. I didn't see what the fuss was about, and they were around my legs under the table this time, and the kitty was yowling the whole time. Pressure in his ears? Some kind of electric field?

Outflow boundary just arrived. Here's to hoping

I can legit see it raining a quarter mile away

Just got a severe thunderstorm warning alert on my phone 3 minutes after a bolt of lightning hit 150 yards from me. Thanks NWS. Currently getting the biggest downpour, lightning storm, windstorm of the season. This is wild

This is an unbelievable downpour. Light show!

I can’t even get out of my car to go in the house!

Yard is flooded and this isn’t ending any time soon
Taylor’s was flooding on Wade Hampton, right in front of the dip at Houser Shoes! Looks like we may get a 2fer!! Another storm dropping in to the SE motion, right behind the one coming through now!
