I still think your Tennessee valley, CAD areas, Ozarks, maybe northern Mississippi and Alabama favor the best here before mid January. The ice signal is showing up on multiple models which makes sense with a building -NAO and very volatile western Canada and pacific. It favors frontal systems that die out or miller b setups. CAD areas are eventually going to get that brutal ice storm that’s eluded us for 2 decades.

Well, we have a little bit of noise on the 18z GEFS, 5 days out. Interesting if any of tonight's 0z Ops latch on. Here's hoping.

The EPS is better than the GEFS here which is weird... That like never happens
The GEFS does have an increasing signal on NYE though lol which the EPS is later into January

The NAO has spent very little time in the positive since Oct 15th. Hold the NAO somewhat and improve the Pacific and our chances will increase

Not necessarily January related but the low temps tonight are something you rarely if ever see, particularly in winter. Colder here then in parts of Tennessee!
