Wintry January 8-9 Wintery Weather Potential!

This is my first call map.
I don't think the areas in blue will have an issue getting 4-8+ however I think I have the line is a little too far into SC. However, something I see could being an issue would be lack of precip. The areas in green and red I think are going to be very hard to truly get down because there is so much uncertainty with the surface temps, WAA, changeovers to sleet/rain, and whether they see any backend snow. I don't think that much(if any) snow will fall south of the far northern counties of SC.

I just randomly woke up after just 20 minutes of sleep and can’t smell stuff good now ..... but the saw nam looks solid still with the backside stuff, one thing I notice is, the better the rates, the better the sounding, but there close at around 900mb View attachment 63847View attachment 63848
I’m glad the run looks good... for that lack of smell, I’ve been there with a certain virus that’s going around right now.... hope it’s sinuses

Pretty nice soundings in that band of snow on the 3km around the Piedmont, not a safe sounding, but not along the edge C06ABCE0-FB36-4453-BA24-174D360BF26C.png

Globals Lateste Run: GFS,New GFS,Euro,Canadian
Looking at Kucheras & 10:1, Canadian and New GFS beefiest. All of them sweet spot MTNS of Course, But all four Sweet spot I-40 in NC from Hickory/Old Fort to western Triangle area as you approach Durham/chapel Hill. That is a good marker along 40 as you leave the mtns and all models paint their heaviest along it. So right now between I40 from Old Fort to Durham and up to the NC line is the area with the highest potential outside mtns.

The Short Range Models which is what we should be foccusing on, espeacilly thermals as the day unfolds today. Paint the same area I just described with the most love. Heres the 6z nam and you can see this area gets a lot of love as well.

Also once you enter Triangle,Draw a line from Raleigh to tidewater region and see alot of stripping for areas north of hwy 64 through the northern coastal plain, espeacilly up toward Halifax,Northhampton Counties. Kinda see the SW to NE orientationa again on all of them, like you do from Old Fort/Marion toward the Triad before it flattens out temporaily.
