Wintry January 3rd-6th, 2018 Winter Storm The ARCC/Xtreme Weather Special

This is ridiculous. Wake County is a true snow hole. All day we were were worried about it being too far east and it's snowing more to the west of here.
 
I was hoping this storm would start cranking just in time for the back band to sit over us and intensify, we might just make it!
 
I'm just not understanding the dynamics of why a dry pocket of air would be right there when you have moisture in all directions around it. It's baffles me. I really feel for the RDU folks. I would be pissed...worse than getting sleet all day instead of snow.

Rah upped amounts here to 3-6, seems plausible I've got a nice band just sitting over me. Also DP jumped from 10 to 27, seems quick maybe really tapping that Atlantic moisture or wishcasting lol
