Wintry January 23rd-27th 2026

Tornado warnings SW Ga and Fl.. flooding in NE Al… back edge of rain now clearing the Birmingham area heading east.. 32 degree line from our frigid Arctic air incoming into NW AL currently.

I tell ya. This storm is his just defying some of the basic rules I’ve always learned about winter weather. 22 here now with light sleet and pixie dust snow flakes. The 850mb here right now is in the mid 40s while the 925mb temperature is in the mid 30s. There is going to be same great case studies put together on this and I can’t wait to read them

Yeah SE won't be exactly a flash freeze but I don't think the roads, grounds, or some trees are gonna be coated in Ice tomorrow

Wonder if that snow will fill in from Nashville back to Dallas. It's back far enough for the cold to pack in good.

It’s strictly rain here and it almost seems/looks like it’s melting as there’s a lot of run off from the roof. But it’s 27 degrees so idk.

still sleeting hard enough that i can easily hear it from inside. kinda thinking we'll flip within the hour but it has been hard to do. remarkable to me, given 925s 850s 700s are all above freezing and sfc cold is not as impressive. rates!
What are y’all’s temps we’re looking at 22/21 96% here

I'm at 37 degree slightly north of Charleston, SC. With the sun about to go down and heavy precipitation coming in is there a chance we drop back below freezing and get freezing rain? I'm a little concern about that possibility. They were also showing a high of 56 today and the highest we have been is 37. Makes no sense.

Not sure if it has been posted yet, but there’s pretty significant damage across Montgomery from a bowing segment of the QLCS that came through right before noon. Lots of trees and power lines down. I-85 NB and SB is closed at the Eastern Blvd exit due to downed power lines
