I live in Rolesville too and agree I’m going to have to head to the mountains and stay for a storm if I want to enjoy any winter weather. This area is completely different than it was 20 years ago and yesterday might be the max of what we can ever get.
Yeah, we know and thank goodness you are here to remind us at least twice a day or so.
I think we are in one of those patterns that anyone in the region can score with something that doesn't show itself days in advance. With cold air within range and precip coming together, its wide open without details trying to be nailed down 7 days in advance as well.

Not sure I’ve ever see a FZRA total that high at this lead for a mean

Has a little bit of late Jan 2014 to it but without the dominant EPO over AK it might be shifted west which I'm all reality isn't a bad thing as long as it's not too far

Pattern has high end potential of watching from the sidelines or either scoring something big. But someone is no doubt scoring in this.

Really looks like a ice pattern right now east of the apps especially if the first initial storm phases and pulls a lot of high pressure before the overrunning shows up
EPS and gefs are fairly similar

Looks like the euro ai shows a major winter storm? Best I can tell looking on my phone anyways. The boundary is further east for sure.
Very similar ensemble support at this lead time as the last storm. 25/50 eps members and about half of the GEFS members have notable winter weather for Birmingham at 12z today. 
That's a big day in DC. Could be messy. Football championship in ATL that night too.

Ironically there's been a lot of talk about that year out here before this last storm. Apparently it was multiple arctic outbreaks
