Radiational cooling, the cold is still stationary back west, way west. I mean its still 33 in Chattanooga and Birmingham, with teens just miles to the west and northwest of both.

I finally have sleet

I’ve had a freezing drizzle here for about an hour. 28 degrees and the car outside already has a glaze. Looking at the latest Rap, it looks nasty.

Any ground reports in Chattanooga? TWC is showing it’s warmed to 33F there.

Not Chatt- but close. Keep hovering between 31-33. Literally was raining with a few sleet pellets. No ZR attm. Just checked and even elevated surfaces are still just wet. Cold is still hung up on the plateau.

Check out the ZR down on the gulf coast. Quite the gradient down there too.

Looking at those saturated low levels on the soundings makes me think freezing drizzle/light showers are gonna be a big problem. The models may be underestimating that aspect. That light stuff will accrue like gangbusters in these mid-upper 20s.

wound up with bout 4 1/2 today ,if we had not changed to sleet around 1 today im telling you as hard as it was snowing it would have been atleast 8 but no complaints from me
