This thing is really trending south quickly. So much so that even the upstate is in on what I believe would be snow based on the control. Now it doesn’t show any snow accumulation based on the totals which indicates it would be sleet. However with the 850’s that cold and the surface being right at or slightly below freezing I would almost bet it’s a snow sounding.
Kinda what I thought after the euro..its a heck of a lot closer than the last system. Would only take a couple degrees for glory.. 850's look good and decent cold in place.

Well gonna ride the 18z GFS to glory. Only Bus that stops in northern Randolph County. I can feel the wind on the others as they whiz by 20 miles to my north without stopping.

If I am being honest, I am fine with letting Nashville and VA have their second snowfall of the year. The pattern looks good for a lot of us across the board, especially around the Mid-January timeframe. Will we end up with a classic "I-85, I-20, corridor crusher" this winter? Possibly. But it's something to track and for that, we should be thankful. Plus, it's my birthday weekend and after having New Year's and Christmas being semi canceled, due to Covid...I am okay with us gambling for a perfect setup.

banter i know. Never want to hear again how it was too warm the day before for major accumulation. Can I get an amen
I ain’t ever gotten into this debate but here’s what I saw here yesterday. It snowed and snowed and snowed in Zebulon but nothing . No accumulation on any trash cans , roofs nothing. Once I got to louisburg it was snowing hard enough to accumulate, but the second the snow began to let up I noticed melt .
