You can color me more concerned than I was this morningSo far it looks like the HRRR is actually verifying better than the NAM on p type. That's a rarity for CAD & I hope it reverses course because we are in trouble if it doesn't

Are you seeing it wet on railings freezing yet? You know like traditional feezing rain or are the droplets freezing before they hit?It is already a slick mess out here. This is going to get nasty in a hurry. Heck, it's already nasty.
35.6/27.5Temperature dropping in a hurry now. 36.5/28.2.
Yes, my handrails going up the steps are coated. Are you seeing it wet on railings freezing yet? You know like traditional feezing rain or are the droplets freezing before they hit?

I hadn’t even considered that. Dang.NC Foothills are at a disadvantage right now because their layer of surface cold air is a lot thinner than locations further east. This is where the elevation is hurting them.

925’s are very cold but the warm nose and WAA is going to be deeper and warmer which is what I tried to say multiple times the last couple of days.I don't like the reports of mostly rain over the upstate. We were hoping to start as sleet. I haven't looked at mesoscale but obviously we haven't cooled enough for sleet or the warm nose is already too warm. If everything we get is zr we are going to get slammed.
someone just posited that elevation is hurting you guys and it makes senseQuestion, why am I not snowing? The map SD posted it's well below freezing @850, @925, and 19 degrees??
I saw that after I had already posted the question. That's interesting.someone just posited that elevation is hurting you guys and it makes sense
I hadn’t even considered that. Hope y’all switch back soon.I saw that after I had already posted the question. That's interesting.

Looks like snow, for now...
But you can see the strong southerly wind at about 850 mb, so that layer will quickly warm over the next several hours. Northeast winds at the surface will continue to supply cold air. Saturation looks good throughout the column, other than surface for now. Forecast looks good for a few hours of sleet followed by several hours of freezing rain/freezing drizzle.
Congratulations. I. You're always blowing snow up there...Light snow for now
Id wonder if the saturation is under the dgz right now.Congratulations. I. You're always blowing snow up there...![]()
