Tropical Hurricane Ida

This is a total nightmare for New Orleans and the rest of SE Louisiana. Likely going to be as bad or worse than Katrina in some areas from a humanitarian standpoint. The pandemic unfortunately means Ida won't necessarily have to be as big/bad as Katrina to inflict a similar amount of pain.

Ida is pushing the pedal now. CDO continues to cool and become more symmetrical as is the eye.

Unsure if we shave 15-20mb before landfall, ~<940 is what it will take to be borderline historic

I can see it going down to the upper 30s. It'll be pretty historic for the area, but it seems to be wobbling away from a trajectory towards NOLA's immediate west. We'll see.

Yeah. But where it makes that north turn can have a big impact on her trajectory. New Orleans is by no means out of the woods. They're still going to see catastrophic flooding, but maybe the core strongest winds doesn't get an opportunity to put excruciating pressure on those levees.
