It's the same thing that caused it to snow in Mobile briefly yesterdayYes, sure did. I'm only 15 minutes away in North Augusta so I drove over there with the dog. Very small area, like 2 mile radius at most. A coating to an inch. Literally less than a 2 minute drive from absolutely nothing to winter wonderland. It was the strangest thing. I heard on a local station that NWS CAE said it was not cold all the way through the column, rather a phenomenon that occurs when droplets have a chance to flash freeze again after exiting warm layer... I want to say @Webberweather53 mentioned something like this being possible in areas? Maybe I'm mistaking.... but it was wild looking.
I had no idea that Cobb County was an international airport nowUnknown precip fog/mist - congrats Cobb CountyView attachment 189281
Next!!!! What a dud for everyone in the Carolina’s and even back to Brent. Seems like N MS was ground zero for worst ice damage!
There’s a reason 1”+ ZR events don’t happen often! The models suck!
Next weekend is the one! This was the appetizer!![]()
AFAIK they don’t have commercial passenger flights. Despite that it’s relatively busyI had no idea that Cobb County was an international airport now
Mack this area was more scared than before Helene hit. By a long shot. Had this done what it should have done it would have been unbelievable. The data was unanimous but the BALL DONT LIENext!!!! This won’t age wellnot an alabama storm this go round, sorry
The south complains about the north wishcasting and being arrogant and entitled, but it happens within our own region as well. Almost every single threat is or should be a NC paste job. gotta laughSo now all the sudden you can predict what will happen one week out? Lol what changed between this weekend storm and now? A week out on the last storm, you guys thought it was gonna be a historical snow storm just to end up losing it to the north. I asked what would have to happen for Alabama to become involved
Yea I think yall are too west for this one. I rather yall and us get it than the Georgia, FL or SC coast. Or especially the mid AtlanticView attachment 189315
Oh look a big nothingburger for ATL/Athens again.. who could have predicted that
It’s a form of mental illness imo. I enjoy snow and come to this forum every winter to see models, trends etc. but at the end of the day, I realize that no matter how bad I want it to snow, that ain’t gonna change what will actually happen. I want to actually understand how changes in pattern will affect my area. Not have a full grown man who has a childish obsession with snow, tell me my area is out just because he wants it in his areaThe south complains about the north wishcasting and being arrogant and entitled, but it happens within our own region as well. I made one last check too. Still light snow or something and I still don’t know if it’s 32 or 33.Me going outside to check out the 32.5F drizzle just now.
No doubt. Got some folks all up in their feelings with a simple comment. Tide recruiting must not be going well. I also always enjoy the poster who gets on the other poster about not using the Banter thread via a post....not in the banter thread.@Ross pissed off a whole state tonight.![]()
Mmm. You are def part of the Carolina weenie club…He is apparently a meteorologist and you guys were having absolute meltdowns over Mets on tv forecasting 2 feet of snow in Georgia.. bc it is indeed irresponsible to make statements that you have no way of validating… esp coming from a met.No doubt. That’s an odd photo to include for a storm in 2002. I mean, I know it was 24 years ago. But that photo looks like it’s from… I don’t know. But I’ve not seen poles with that many wires on it in my lifetime. And why does it go from 3 tiers to 6? I smell AI.This event was not even close to this! View attachment 189304

Well I haven’t had accumulating snow in years now. I’m in the southern part of central Alabama. North and south Alabama got it last year, not us though. As someone who used to live in Alabama I understand the pain but people have forgotten that much of Alabama saw three or four inches last year when Central North Carolina and Charlotte Area didn't get anything close.
You’re pretty new here I see. I encourage you to learn from this place. There’s a lot of information to absorb from and we have the best meteorologist you can ever ask for. As for this upcoming weekend potential, there has been some positive trends tonight. Sure, it might not put you and I in the bullseye but as most have already said on here is that you can almost expect a NW trend. Theres still time for things change. Trust me, this tracking can get a little bit overwhelming but that’s the fun part about this passionI’m gonna be honest here and honesty hurts but us in Alabama might wanna get ready for severe weather season because after this I see no more winter storms and there’s a lot that has to happen for us to get snow outta this…
Maybe something will change idk but 6 days out I don’t think that’s gonna happen so I’m tapping out here and just gonna get ready for severe weather season…
