Misc General Banter Thread

I was literally just telling my wife hours ago how historic this was and we will never see anything like this again and you’re telling me when I get home at 3 am I will be telling her never mind, just gonna be rain. I held out saying anything till I thought it was set besides some little changes, This is crazy as hell.

Have we seen a model do a major correction before? Honestly, I think the Euro will give a cold rain for ATL and an ice storm for Northeast GA.

It's easily possible for the models to correct back the other way towards the colder solutions. Wouldn't be the first time (not to say it'll happen here). There's a lot of models run over the course of 7+ days, so you're going to see some runs go the other direction, generally.

The Euro will correct itself but it more of a ice storm for the Carolinas instead of GA. I dont see 63 degrees may 39 to 42 for ATL.

I would think that seems a bit extreme, too. However, sometimes the wedge boundary can have some pretty extreme temperature differences. I've seen it warm 20+ degrees over the course of an afternoon here before when the wedge gets worn away.

Me too and there is no blocking. I can see it moving out of the area fast.

The solace for the Triangle and really much of central NC is it seems like we can't totally lose this winter storm. I mean, we either get a historic snowstorm or a crippling ice storm, or somewhere in the middle? It seems there is no way we end up with just cold rain, right? Right??? :D

Although a crippling ice storm would be a "lose" of sorts, LOL! Although I guess it can always get worse than what the Euro just showed.

January Joke. I truly may lose my passion for weather after this. Biggest fail ever. Maybe we need to the the Canadian model more credit… or any model that shows the least snowiest outcome

Did the storm already happen? It seems most modeling is still showing a significant winter storm for your area? The disastrous Euro run is probably the biggest ice storm there in decades.

I agree, I’m just trying to justify why anyone would want freezing rain.🤷🏼‍♂️🤣
I mean I don't hate ZR. It sucks in a lot of ways, but let's not act like snowstorms don't cause death and destruction, too. I don't really care for an all-ZR storm, but as part of a larger winter storm, it beats rain.

People love tornados and hurricanes, too.

Well, I reckon that a lot of parents are gonna be telling a lot of kids who thought they'd get out of school next week the bad news by tomorrow evening.
Funny we (kids)talked about this weekend but haven't moved the sleds out of storage! Its a win win
Dad's off his rocker
Tons of needed rain even though my grass isn't growing. Maybe this is why old men go crazy to much weather nonsense
